The 2025-2026 V-League season, with its notable changes to format and professional regulations, promises to be a dramatic and captivating season for audiences nationwide.
The tournament will start on August 15, 2025 and is expected to end in mid-June 2026, playing in a double round-robin format with 14 participating clubs, a total of 26 rounds and 182 matches.
This season, the relegation battle is expected to be more intense, as the two teams at the bottom of the table will be directly relegated, with no relegation play-off like in previous seasons.
The list of participating teams includes: Becamex Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Becamex Binh Duong), Hanoi Police, Ho Chi Minh City Police (formerly Ho Chi Minh City Club), Dong A Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Ninh Binh, PVF-CAND,SHB Da Nang, Song Lam Nghe An, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh and The Cong Viettel.
Notably, following the administrative boundary merger, the season has seen many exciting derby matches. In addition, the new regulations allow clubs participating in the AFC Cup (Nam Dinh, Hanoi Police) to register a maximum of 7 foreign players, while other teams are limited to 4. However, the number of foreign players on the field remains limited to 3 per match.

The transfer market will open in two phases: from July 15th to September 14th and from January 25th, 2026 to March 17th, 2026, with the deadline for registering the official squad list for the season being August 1st. The total prize money for the top three teams amounts to 9.5 billion VND, creating strong competitive motivation.
In terms of television broadcasting, all 182 matches will be streamed live onFPT Play and other digital platforms, with VAR support nationwide, ensuring the highest professional quality and best viewing experience for the audience.
With a clear format, a tight schedule, and numerous improvements in both professional standards and media coverage, the 2025-2026 V-League is expected to deliver fierce and exciting competitions, from the championship race to the relegation battle. This is also an important preparation step for Vietnamese clubs before stepping onto the continental stage.
