The sacrifices and contributions of generations of Border Guard officers and soldiers, along with the people, in building, managing, and protecting the national border have been immortalized in the country's literature, art, and press. This treasure trove of vivid works has had a profound impact and deeply moved people. These works have made a significant contribution to the success of the Party, the State, the People, the Army, and the Border Guard in the crucial task of firmly protecting the sacred borders and territories of the Fatherland.

Colors of the Border – the Endless Love Song of a Soldier

Images of doctors, teachers, and Party secretaries in military uniforms in particularly difficult border regions, along with countless touching stories of the courageous sacrifices and hardships endured by Border Guard officers and soldiers, have provided inexhaustible inspiration for authors to create valuable works of literature, poetry, music, art, and journalism. This has made a significant impact on the organization and implementation of propaganda tasks regarding the construction, management, and protection of national borders.

The Political Department of the Border Guard Command has many artists and journalists who have contributed numerous famous works. Among the leadership at the departmental, divisional, and subordinate unit levels, many individuals have been recognized for their leadership and organization in carrying out propaganda tasks. In particular, some comrades have both led the implementation of assigned tasks and directly created high-quality works.

Besides their responsibilities in propaganda work, many heads of the Political Department are also renowned for their literary works. Notable examples include Major General Cao Thuong Luong, Colonel Phan Trong Bang, Major General Vu Hiep Binh, and Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van. These individuals have diligently contributed to advising the Party Committee and Command, and the Party Committee and Command of the Political Department, in formulating policies, solutions, and organizational measures for implementing propaganda tasks. They are also the creators of outstanding journalistic, literary, and artistic works.

Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van is one such figure. With 15 years as Editor-in-Chief of the Border Guard Newspaper, and over 3 years as Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the Border Guard Command and concurrently Editor-in-Chief of the Border Guard Newspaper, he organized the production of many documentary series and television programs that had a strong impact on the public. Notable examples include "Border Guard Chronicles," "Sea and Island Chronicles," Part 1 of the film "Pages of Border History," and dozens of live television programs broadcast on VTV… Many of these works have been honored at the National Journalism Awards and the Journalism Award for Foreign Information… Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van also initiated the naming of many television exchange programs that continue to thrive today.

Programs that are familiar to the public.

Now, with internet access, we can easily find many familiar names of vibrant television programs that have been around for over 10 years. Such as "Half a Century of Golden Military Marches," "Borderland Home," "Borderland of Enduring Friendship," "Springtime at the Border, Warming the Hearts of the People," "Echoes of the Border," "Springtime Towards the Highlands of Ha Giang," "Springtime at the Border, Helping Children Go to School," "Those Who Light the Borderfire," and "For the Ships Sailing Far Out to Sea."

In the aforementioned works, more than half were initiated and immediately accepted by Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van, namely: "Half a Century of Resounding Military Marches," "Spring on the Border Warms the Hearts of the Local People," "Spring on the Border Helps Children Go to School," "Those Who Light the Border Flame," and "For the Ships Far Out at Sea."

Regarding the program's title, "Borderlands of Enduring Friendship," before the plan was approved, Colonel Nguyen Hoa Van proposed the names "Friendly Borders" or "Integrated Borders." After the steering committee meeting, the organizing committee approved the plan with the aforementioned names. This is an exchange program between the Vietnam Border Guard and the national border protection forces of neighboring countries: China, Laos, and Cambodia. This exchange program is very valuable. The program's message is: Solidarity, friendship, and trustworthy cooperation; building a peaceful, stable, and developed border; promoting international integration; protecting common interests and the interests of each country; and ensuring the peaceful and happy lives of the people on both sides of the border.

To date, this program has been held three times. The first time was in March 2014, winning the National Journalism Encouragement Award in 2014. The second time was in May 2016, winning the B Prize at the National Journalism Awards in 2016.

Colonel and journalist Nguyen Hoa Van is known to be a dedicated political commentator deeply concerned with current national issues. His assessments have also been honored with inclusion in the "Red Book" of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He has received seven awards (A, B, C, and KK) at the National Journalism Awards, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards, and the Anti-Corruption Awards. Notably, he was awarded the Third Class Order of National Defense by the President for his achievement in organizing the production of 36 episodes of documentary films about the sea and islands, together with director Tran Tuan Hiep and the Border Guard Newspaper staff.
