Through this, they were determined to successfully complete their mission.   To firmly protect national sovereignty and border security, bringing peaceful and happy springs to the people.

Firmly protect border sovereignty and security.

Quang Ninh province has 118.825 km of land border and 67.74 km of sea border, bordering the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China), with a total of 98 border markers and 176 border posts. The border area comprises 81 communes, wards, and towns belonging to 10 districts, towns, and cities of the province.

Throughout its 66-year history, the Quang Ninh Border Guard has consistently affirmed its position as a unit with a long history of achievements, truly a comprehensively strong and exemplary unit of the Border Guard Force; a vanguard and core force in building, managing, and protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security in the key defense and security area of ​​the Northeast region of the Fatherland. Whether on the long border roads or in remote islands, the soldiers in green uniforms silently dedicate themselves, their footsteps silently leaving their mark day and night on every patrol route protecting each sacred border marker of the Fatherland.

In the biting cold and rainy weather of the mountainous border region of Binh Lieu in late February, officers and soldiers of the Hoanh Mo Border Gate Border Guard Post are still diligently carrying out their duties of patrolling and guarding the border, protecting border markers, and strictly controlling the border and border gate; preventing illegal entry and exit activities, and effectively combating all types of crime, especially since the People's Committee of Binh Lieu district and the People's Government of Fangcheng District (China) have just implemented customs clearance for tourists and border residents through the Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) - Dongzhong (China) border gate pair.

Lieutenant Colonel Vi Tien Nghiep, Deputy Political Officer of Hoanh Mo Border Gate Border Guard Station, said: "In the past period, we have implemented a comprehensive set of border guard measures, launching a widespread mass movement to raise vigilance, proactively prevent, and actively participate with the Border Guard in strengthening the fight against all types of crimes, illegal border crossings, and especially in the new situation with new tasks, we must absolutely not be negligent or complacent. In the past 5 years, the Station has organized 5,671 patrols/39,697 officers and soldiers to participate in patrolling, controlling, and guarding the border area, border gate, and the area under the unit's management and responsibility; maintaining regularly and effectively 20 teams/120 members, 240 households, and 235 individuals registered to participate in managing and protecting 68 border markers/43.168km of border line; Authorities detected, apprehended, and prosecuted 93 cases involving 194 individuals, contributing to maintaining security and order in border areas, border gates, and localities.

Together with the Hoành Mô Border Gate Border Guard Station, fulfilling the task of firmly protecting national border security and sovereignty, the Provincial Border Guard Command has directed units along the land and sea borders to implement comprehensive border management and protection measures. At the same time, they proactively coordinate with relevant agencies and units to regularly patrol, control, manage, and firmly protect the sovereignty, territory, and security of the border, sea, and islands, effectively combating special cases, operational plans, and thematic programs against drug-related crimes, smuggling, commercial fraud, and illegal immigration along the border and sea areas.

In 2024, the Provincial Border Guard Command successfully conducted 2 major operations and 8 operational plans; arrested and processed 249 cases/368 individuals/203 vehicles related to drugs, illegal immigration, smuggling, and transporting goods of unknown origin… Criminal proceedings were initiated in 26 cases/48 individuals/17 vehicles…

The close bond between the military and the people.

From the perspective of economic development linked to national defense and security, and the firm protection of border sovereignty, the Quang Ninh Border Guard has been implementing many practical programs, movements, models, and approaches, gradually helping people in border areas improve and enhance their quality of life. Each meaningful project and task undertaken by the soldiers in green uniforms has contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people, building a solid foundation of public support, and creating a combined strength that helps the Border Guard successfully fulfill its mission of protecting the sacred border sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Colonel Le Xuan Men, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, stated: "Over the years, the Provincial Border Guard Command has coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, and various departments to jointly eliminate dilapidated houses, build new rural areas, and gradually improve the material living standards of people in border regions. At the same time, the Provincial Border Guard Command has proactively participated with local Party committees and authorities in building and strengthening the grassroots political system in border areas by effectively maintaining models of Border Guard officers participating in Party committees in 5 districts and cities and 24 border and island communes and wards; 95 Border Guard Party members participating in activities at border village Party branches; and 467 Party members in charge of 1,690 households in border and island areas." This contributes to building and strengthening clean and strong grassroots Party organizations, concretizing resolutions, directives, and plans of the Party Committee and People's Committee of border communes into life, and promoting local socio-economic development.

In 2024 alone, the Quang Ninh Border Guard Command coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to support the construction of 4 new "Borderland Shelter" houses in border areas, with a total cost of 320 million VND; sponsored 111 disadvantaged students in the "Helping Children Go to School - Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts" program; organized free medical examinations, treatment, and medicine distribution for 863 people in border and island localities with a total cost of 193 million VND; and organized visits and gift-giving to policy beneficiary families and disadvantaged families during holidays and Tet with a total cost of 1.3 billion VND.

In particular, the provincial Border Guard units deployed 1,945 officers and 667 vehicles to coordinate with functional forces in search and rescue operations, prevention, and mitigation of the consequences of Typhoon No. 3 in the province; the Provincial Border Guard Command also called for and donated 1.2 billion VND to localities affected by Typhoon No. 3.

Along the borderlands of Quang Ninh province, every road bears the footprints of soldiers in green uniforms, from the years of hardship and scarcity to the present day. "The outpost is our home, the border is our homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups are our brothers and sisters" is not only a belief and a truth, but also a driving force for every officer and soldier to cultivate the blood-bond tradition between the Border Guard and the people, working together to firmly protect every inch of our homeland.
