Many meaningful activities

As the early morning sun began to shine, the golden rice fields were bustling with the sounds of footsteps, laughter, and calls; a vibrant scene of people in A Luoi 5 commune busily harvesting their crops.

At the rice paddy of Mrs. Ho Thi Noi's family in Chi Du Nghia village, officers and soldiers of the Huong Nguyen Border Guard Post quickly divided up the tasks of harvesting the rice. Some groups harvested, others followed the edges of the paddy fields, transporting the rice to the threshing machine… everyone worked diligently. The sun grew increasingly intense, their uniforms soaked with sweat, their faces sunburned, but the young soldiers decided to continue through the midday heat to finish harvesting the entire area of over 1 hectare, in case a sudden thunderstorm soaked the rice.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Dung, Political Officer of Huong Nguyen Border Guard Station, the weather in the border area is unpredictable, with thunderstorms often occurring in the afternoons. When the rice is ripe, it is necessary to quickly harvest it to avoid damage caused by rain, wind, and storms. Given the reality that elderly, single-parent households and those with limited manpower are in great need of assistance, the unit's command has dispatched youth union members, young officers, and soldiers to the villages to support the local people.

During those meaningful days of May, along the land border, the youth of A Đớt Border Guard Post (stationed in A Lưới 4 commune) and Hồng Vân Border Guard Post (stationed in A Lưới 1 commune) also served as a vanguard force, reaching out to the rice fields in the mountainous, difficult-to-harvest terrain to help the people.

Ms. Ho Thi Nam, a member of the Pa Co ethnic minority in Ca Cu 2 village, was deeply moved when the officers and soldiers of the Hong Van Border Gate Border Guard Post helped her harvest her four rice fields, totaling nearly 0.5 hectares, neatly that morning. Wiping away the sweat streaming down his face, Lieutenant Pham Van Hung, Team Leader of the Community Mobilization Team at the Hong Van Border Gate Border Guard Post, and his young comrades simply stated that helping the people and protecting their property and lives is one of the important tasks of the Border Guard. With the spirit and responsibility of youth, they are ready to accept and successfully complete the tasks assigned by their unit and superiors.

“Studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh , the youth of the Border Guard Force have always been the vanguard and core force in all tasks on the two border lines. In the meaningful month of May – the month commemorating President Ho Chi Minh's birthday – the youth of the Hue City Border Guard Force have focused on many practical activities,” affirmed Lieutenant Colonel Cao Chi Luyen, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the Hue City Border Guard Force.

Officers and soldiers of the Chan May Port Border Guard Station assisted in dismantling roofs and transporting materials to build a new house for Ms. Le Thi Phuc's family (residing in Thuy Yen Ha village, a near-poor household) under the "Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" program in Chan May commune - Lang Co district. The youth of the Vinh Hien Border Guard Station participated with forces in Phu Loc commune, leveling land and building a new house for Ms. Le Thi Chat's family in Hoa Mau village. They also coordinated with local authorities to repair three houses for disadvantaged households, contributing to improving the living conditions of the people.

A solid foundation

Recently, the Chan May Port Border Guard Station, in coordination with local authorities, organized a campaign to support fishermen in implementing regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Major Nguyen Xuan Lam, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Chan May Port Border Guard Station, said: After the People's Committee of the commune issued 382 registration plates for inland waterway vessels and fishing boats in Chan May - Lang Co commune, the unit sent its youth union members, who are the core force, to directly go to Binh An, Binh An 2, Canh Duong, and Phu Hai villages to guide and support the people in painting the registration plates onto the hulls of their boats according to the correct size and regulations so that when fishermen go out to sea to fish, they comply with the law.

On Canh Duong beach, Canh Duong village, Chan May commune - Lang Co district, fishermen and young soldiers diligently work together, a beautiful image of the close relationship between the military and the people. Fisherman Tran Van Son expressed that, for the people in the area, the Border Guard force in general, and the young officers and soldiers in particular, are a solid "support" during natural disasters, storms, and floods, or when fishermen encounter difficulties at sea. They are ready to be present at dangerous "hot spots" to rescue and protect the property and lives of the people.

The core of the Green Sunday movement

These same soldiers, for years, have bravely patrolled the seas, day and night, protecting the sovereignty of Vietnam's maritime territory. They have promptly detected, prevented, and apprehended foreign vessels illegally encroaching on Vietnamese waters; prevented and apprehended domestic individuals and vessels engaging in illegal activities and illegal fishing in the waters of Hue city. At the same time, they have educated and encouraged fishermen to strictly abide by the law during fishing operations, continuing to work at sea to develop the economy. They are "living landmarks" at sea, working together to safeguard the sovereignty of Vietnam's maritime territories and islands.

Since the beginning of the year, the youth of the Border Guard Force of the city have performed well in social welfare activities, undertaken youth projects and tasks, actively participated in youth activities to build new rural areas; coordinated and organized activities directed towards the border, sea, and islands of the homeland, and carried out the construction and inauguration of many "National Flag Roads" along the two border lines.
