Expectations at the questioning session

Báo Xây dựngBáo Xây dựng10/11/2024

The ultimate goal of the questioning process is for both the questioner and the respondent to work together to clarify issues in order to promptly and effectively address the demands of real-life situations.

According to the agenda of the 8th session, three members of the Government, including Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, will appear before the National Assembly to answer questions, starting this morning.

In particular, the question-and-answer sessions between the head of the State Bank of Vietnam and the head of the Ministry of Health will certainly attract widespread attention from voters nationwide.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan will answer questions regarding issues related to mobilizing and deploying forces, and ensuring the supply of medicines and medical supplies to the people.

Regarding the healthcare sector, along with several other issues, voters and the public are very concerned about ensuring the supply of medicines and medical supplies to the people. This will likely be a topic that many National Assembly deputies will ask questions about.

In fact, since the amended Law on Bidding came into effect, it has removed bottlenecks in bidding in many fields, especially the healthcare sector.

However, shortages of medicines and medical equipment, especially high-tech equipment and advanced diagnostic and treatment devices, still persist. This affects the quality of medical examination and treatment and the rights of those covered by health insurance.

Many legal documents and guidelines on bidding in general, and bidding for the procurement of medicines, laboratory supplies, and medical equipment in particular, have been issued. However, in practice, some obstacles remain, leading to some hospitals being confused and hesitant about the risk of having to purchase at high prices.

Patients are in desperate need of medication and treatment, while hospitals, despite having the funds, lack the confidence to bid on and purchase supplies. So where does the problem lie?

In addition, the current management of functional foods, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics also has quite a few shortcomings.

Currently, many counterfeit and substandard dietary supplements are imported into Vietnam, where they are repackaged, relabeled, and falsely labeled with their origin before being distributed for sale. These counterfeit products are sold on the market at lower prices than the genuine ones, while the handling of these cases is inadequate.

Not to mention the widespread use of dietary supplements containing banned substances, advertising them as miracle cures, false advertising, deceptive advertising, and misleading advertising that confuses consumers.

Due to the development of online advertising methods, including advertisements from servers located overseas, it seems that management efforts have not kept pace.

In the banking sector, besides the issue of managing monetary policy amidst a volatile global economy , businesses and individuals are very interested in the issue of interest rate reductions and access to capital to restore production and business after natural disasters.

The reality is that banks are not short of money, but businesses are having difficulty accessing capital. This is something voters are eagerly awaiting a satisfactory answer from the head of the State Bank of Vietnam, along with timely solutions.

Similarly, the gold market has recently experienced instability. How will the State Bank of Vietnam continue to intervene to stabilize the market? How will it inspect and supervise the operations of gold trading businesses, shops, and distribution agents?

It can be said that questioning in parliament is not a competition or an examination, but rather a form of oversight, aimed at fostering collective responsibility, clarifying the current situation, and proposing solutions to better perform the functions and duties of state agencies.

In other words, the ultimate goal of the questioning process is for both the questioner and the respondent to work together to clarify issues in order to promptly and effectively address the demands of real-life situations.

Therefore, voters and the public have high expectations for the results of this questioning session, hoping for accurate and relevant questions, clear and responsible answers, in order to promptly address the existing shortcomings.
