The house of Vo Chi Dung, a 6th grade student at Nguyen Hong Anh Secondary School, is a vivid testament to the spread of this spirit of compassion. Previously, Dung and his grandfather lived in a dilapidated house with a leaky roof and cracked walls, struggling to withstand each rainy and stormy season. Now, thanks to the joint efforts of youth organizations and the 10 million VND raised through the "Small Plan, Piggy Bank" program of 30 primary and secondary school youth groups throughout the district, the house has been renovated to be spacious and sturdy. Although the amount is not large, it is the culmination of seeds of kindness sown with hearts full of love. During the house handover ceremony, Vo Chi Dung was deeply moved: "Thank you so much to all the adults and my friends. With a new house, I will try my best to study hard so as not to disappoint everyone." These simple, sincere words touched the hearts of everyone present. Not only Dung, but Nguyen Ngoc Minh Khue, a student in class 1/3 at Hoa Chau No. 1 Primary School, also recently received a clean and safe "Red Scarf House." These successive youth projects not only create new homes but also serve as bridges of love, providing motivation for children to overcome adversity, nurture their dreams of going to school, and strive for a bright future.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thinh, Deputy Secretary in charge of the Hoa Vang District Youth Union, in recent times, young people throughout the district have contributed more than 1,035 man-days to build two new houses with a total cost of 160 million VND, and also mobilized an additional 800 man-days to repair houses for disadvantaged families. What is commendable is that the movement is not only for children but also extends to single-parent households and elderly people living alone, such as Ms. Nguyen Thi Kich (Khuong My village, Hoa Phong commune) and Ms. Le Thi Thuyen (Phuoc Thai village). Sharing her joy upon receiving a new house, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kich emotionally said: “From makeshift houses, I now have a safe and warm place to live. At my age, having a stable roof over my head, and the kindness of the community, makes me feel much warmer inside. These new houses springing up throughout the villages are not only shelters but also proof of sharing and compassion between people.”
Mr. Thinh added that, with a spirit of initiative, creativity, responsibility, and especially the unity of the people, the youth of Hoa Vang have effectively promoted many social mobilization models, creating a wave of love spreading throughout the community. The strength of the people, the energy of the youth, their enthusiasm, and the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" have become a solid foundation for the movement to continuously expand. "We believe that caring for children, especially those in difficult circumstances, is not only a responsibility but also a mission of the youth organization. A sturdy home not only protects them from the rain and sun but also provides a place to nurture their dreams."
Secretary of the Hoa Vang District Party Committee, Bui Hong Trung, affirmed that each house repaired or newly built is a practical action demonstrating the spirit of leaving no one behind. This reflects the close bond between the Youth Union, the government, and the people, working together to build a more prosperous and happy Hoa Vang. These loving homes today are not only places to live, but also symbols of the strength of unity, the starting point for new hopes, ensuring that no one is left behind, in line with the aspiration for a just, democratic, and civilized society.
