With his dynamism and creativity, over the years, war invalid Nguyen Trong Hao, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Equipment and Spare Parts Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Dong Kinh Ward), has continuously strived and overcome difficulties to steer the enterprise towards development.
Mr. Hao shared: "In 1977, I enlisted and served at the Military Command of Loc Binh District (formerly). In 1978, I joined Battalion 9, protecting the border communes of Loc Binh District (formerly). In 1982, I transferred to the Provincial Military Command, and in 1993, I retired. Due to spending a long time performing duties and being in direct contact with weapons, bombs, mines, and grenades during my service, I suffered 63% bodily injury. Upon returning to my hometown, undeterred by difficulties and hardships, I continued to participate in economic development."
Accordingly, Mr. Hao invested capital to establish a business operating in the fields of manufacturing, construction, and commercial services. In 2010, he founded the Joint Stock Company for Import and Export of Equipment and Spare Parts (PASACO), specializing in importing machinery and components. Currently, his company achieves an average annual revenue of 15 to 20 billion VND, providing stable employment for 6 workers.
Not only Mr. Hao, but over the years, many war invalids and veterans in the province have started their businesses from scratch, becoming successful entrepreneurs and wealthy in their homeland. Despite being a war invalid with a 21% disability rating, Mr. Le Van Hieu from Tuan Son commune has never given up in the face of difficulties. Upon returning to his hometown, he found a way to develop the economy and succeeded with a diversified economic model.
Mr. Hieu shared: "In 1977, I volunteered to join the army and was wounded on the battlefield in Cambodia. In 1990, I was discharged and returned to my hometown to start a business. After researching various economic models, I decided to invest in reforestation, planting fruit trees, and cultivating forestry seedlings. To date, my family owns 3 hectares of eucalyptus trees; and a fruit tree planting and forestry seedling cultivation model with a scale of over 500,000 seedlings per year. Thanks to this, my family earns over 200 million VND per year after deducting expenses; and at the same time, it creates seasonal jobs for 10 local laborers."
According to statistics from the Department of Internal Affairs, the province has 2,633 war invalids and sick soldiers. Bearing in mind President Ho Chi Minh 's teaching, "War invalids may be disabled, but they are not useless," many war invalids and sick soldiers in the province have worked diligently over the years, overcoming illness and all the difficulties in their lives.
Mr. Pham Viet Van, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association and Head of the Veterans Affairs Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said: The Provincial Veterans Association currently has 1,013 members who are wounded or sick veterans. Of these, about one-third have strived to overcome their illnesses, develop economic and production models, not only enriching their families but also creating jobs and contributing to the overall development of the province.
The province currently has over 1,300 war invalids and sick soldiers receiving monthly allowances as prescribed. Annually, relevant departments advise the Provincial People's Committee on organizing visits, gift-giving, and encouragement for the families of war invalids and sick soldiers in the area. With the care and support of the Party and the State, many war invalids and sick soldiers, after returning to their hometowns, have continued to contribute, develop their family economies, and help build increasingly prosperous and beautiful homelands.
During the month of July, when the whole country, and Lang Son province in particular, is organizing many activities to express gratitude and commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), we are even more impressed by the resilience of war invalids and sick soldiers. Their perseverance and determination have become exemplary role models of willpower and resilience for younger generations to learn from and emulate, contributing to the development of Lang Son province.
