As part of the series of events celebrating the First Party Congress of the commune (2025-2030 term), for several days now, mountainous communes such as Avuong, La Ee, Tra Tap, Tra Linh... have organized unique agricultural product exhibition spaces.

With its diverse range of agricultural products, the market adds to the vibrant atmosphere of the festival, becoming a place to connect and promote the unique products of the highland people to tourists.

Connecting local products

According to Mr. Briu Quan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Avuong commune, throughout the duration of the congress (July 24-25), the local government flexibly mobilized and connected with villages to open markets showcasing characteristic products, in chào mừng the First Party Congress of the commune, term 2025-2030.

The market took place in a lively atmosphere in the center of the commune, bringing together 6 stalls selling agricultural products with dozens of diverse items, mostly brought by local people themselves.

The goods on display range from vegetables and fruits, beans, purple sticky rice, red sticky rice, stream fish, rock snails, mountain frogs... to products bearing the distinctive cultural imprint of the Co Tu people such as forest honey, brocade fabrics, beadwork and handcrafted jewelry.

“Notably, most people are bringing their products to market in this way for the first time. With unique and safe products, we encourage people to be confident in trading, creating value for mountainous agricultural products, especially creating opportunities to connect and bring local products to more people,” Mr. Briu Quan shared.

To ensure the market space was adequate, in addition to connecting people to bring their products for display, the departments and offices of Avuong commune mobilized forces to set up tents and divide stalls according to each village and production group; at the same time, they took turns selling products, serving local people and tourists who wanted to shop.

Ms. Alang Thi Thuan, representative of the R'cung village stall, shared that she was a little nervous about selling "homemade" agricultural products for the first time. However, after only half a day, many of the products were sold out, making everyone very happy.

"I hope these markets will be held regularly so that people have a place to sell their products, creating an incentive to increase production," Ms. Thuan confided.

Enhancing distinctive values

Not only in Avuong commune, but also in several other localities such as La Ee, Tra Tap, Tra Linh, etc., agricultural product display spaces have been implemented to introduce and promote mountain products to tourists.

According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Hung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of La Ee commune, although the time was very short, the number of people coming to buy and sell characteristic products such as upland shallots, seven-leaf ginseng, and melons was quite large, creating an impressive shopping space ahead of the congress.

"Not only local people, but many agricultural products are also purchased by the collective canteens of commune officials, police officers, and border guards, adding to the joy of the people during these particularly meaningful days," Mr. Hung said.

Returning home after attending the congress, Mrs. Bríu Thị Xét (Bhlố village, Avương commune) visited the market stalls to buy her favorite products, including a set of beads and a traditional Cơ Tu brocade fabric.

Ms. Bríu Thị Xét said that the unique combination makes the market a space for meeting, exchanging, and buying and selling characteristic agricultural products between farmers and consumers.

This is also an important channel for communicating and promoting products and the unique values of mountainous agricultural products to a wide audience of locals, tourists, and neighboring communities.

According to Ms. Bríu Thị Nem, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Avương commune, this market fair combines the introduction and promotion of products with a space to welcome the Party Congress of the commune.

This is seen as an important step in connecting people with the market economy , especially at a time when the new commune government has just come into operation.

To ensure the market is effective, local authorities proactively guide vendors on stall arrangement, provide knowledge about consumer preferences, and advise on selecting products with the potential to develop into unique brands.

The goal is not only to sell within the community but also to build a competitive brand for local products in the future.

“Based on the initial success of this market, we plan to organize agricultural product markets regularly in the future. This will contribute to improving people's income and aims towards developing agriculture linked with Co Tu community tourism, as envisioned by the commune in the coming years,” said Ms. Nem.

The agricultural product markets organized by local authorities in mountainous areas are considered an important first step in the journey of developing agricultural economy while preserving traditional culture.

With the support of the government and the consensus of the people, the upcoming markets promise to be a gathering place for distinctive mountain products, contributing to improving living standards and affirming the unique value of the western region of Da Nang city.
