According to a report from ETNews, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first Apple devices to use the M14 OLED panel. The special feature of this panel is the improvement in blue pixel light-emitting technology, allowing for more efficient and energy-saving operation.
The M14 OLED display is designed specifically for flagships, with 14 referring to the amount of high-performance materials used. This means users will experience a brighter and more energy-efficient display.
iPhone 16 Pro will likely use Samsung's new energy-saving screen.
The SDR brightness of the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to be up to 1,200 nits, a 20% increase compared to the iPhone 15. The maximum brightness for HDR content remains at 1,600 nits, equivalent to the iPhone 15 Pro.
Not only improving the screen, Apple also plans to increase the size of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is the first time in three years that Apple has changed the screen size for its high-end phone line.
According to Macrumors, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.3-inch screen and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be 6.9 inches, both up 0.2 inches from the previous generation. This may stem from Apple's plan to use new screen bezel reduction technology.
iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will have larger screen sizes than previous generations
Last year, Apple used low-pressure injection molding (LIPO) technology to shrink the screen bezel on the iPhone 15 Pro. This year, Apple uses bezel-reducing structure (BRS) technology, which allows for more efficient circuit layout under the screen and a more compact screen bezel.
According to the latest information, the iPhone 16 Pro's screen border is only 1.2 mm, a 30% reduction compared to 1.71 mm on the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro Max's screen border is also only 1.15 mm, 26% thinner than 1.55 mm on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
