“Actually, I believe that reading culture is still of interest to many young people. Books will still be loved by them. And many young people share the desire to improve their reading skills,” shared Nguyen Huu Phuoc, founder and director of Lang Thang Community+.

Aiming to discover innovative, practical, and applicable ideas, the competition has created a platform to inspire and spread a reading culture and passion for books among young people. The two projects that reached the final round recently held at Hoa Sen University were both from very young participants.

The winners were a group of four students from Nguyen Quang Dieu Specialized High School (Dong Thap province).

Through the Booklovers project, part of the school's Book and Action Club, students shared the idea of "10 minutes of reading at the beginning of class" each day, and maintained the habit to cultivate a passion for reading. The students themselves were surprised by the positive impact the project had on the school's students.

"Not only are you reading more and reading more diligently, but your parents are too," said Ho Hong Han, a member of the project.

Meanwhile, the Microwave team – the runner-up in the competition – developed the "Books in Hand" project in Ho Chi Minh City, offering free book lending both online and in person.

They also bring free books to readers, build book buses that travel to many provinces and cities, and combine this with workshops to share about reading culture…

You said you've created activities that really help readers access books more easily and share their favorite books with many others.

As a judge in the final round, Ms. Tran Thi My Dung – founder of the Vietnam Reading Culture Project – said that although the competition was organized for the first time, it had created a positive effect, spreading reading culture in the community, especially among young people.

"The projects still need further refinement, but above all, the young people have shown enthusiasm with innovative ideas and effective methods to bring books closer to the community," Ms. Dung expressed.

From the perspective of a cultural manager, Dr. Thai Thu Hoai (Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture) shared her joy at seeing many young people who love books and enjoy reading.

According to her, activities that promote reading culture, such as those initiated by young people in this competition, will help both the project implementers and those who benefit from the project to love books more, absorb the values from books, and apply them to their lives.

"I see promising signs regarding how to build sustainable success because books are like great teachers," Ms. Hoai analyzed.

Founded in 2022, Lang Thang Community+, a community dedicated to promoting reading culture, was established and run by young entrepreneur Nguyen Huu Phuoc. It began with small activities such as connecting people, sharing books, and organizing book-related events.
