According to The Hindu , a large explosion followed by a fire occurred on the evening of June 21 (local time) in the industrial city of Ras Laffan, Qatar.
QatarEnergy said: "During the commissioning process at the Ras Laffan industrial city, an explosion and fire occurred at the Barzan domestic gas supply facility."
Ras Laffan, located north of the capital Doha, is one of the world's most important gas processing centers and plays a key role in Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry.
The Qatari Interior Ministry initially announced that an "internal explosion" had occurred at a factory in the Ras Laffan industrial area due to a technical malfunction. Civil defense forces were deployed to respond and confirmed that the incident posed no threat to public safety.
The exact extent of material damage has not yet been released.
