As a healthcare unit located in a mountainous area where people still face many difficulties in their lives, the Hai Ha District Health Center has made efforts to implement many activities to care for the health of the people, ensuring that they have access to the best possible healthcare services.
Accordingly, the doctors at the Center have mastered many modern medical equipment, such as: MRI machines, CT scanners, gastrointestinal endoscopy systems, surgical endoscopy, lithotripsy endoscopy, continuous renal replacement therapy machines, immunological and biochemical testing machines, microbiology machines, etc. At the same time, they have implemented many advanced techniques, such as: laparoscopic abdominal surgery; diagnostic and interventional gastroscopy and colonoscopy; hemodialysis and emergency dialysis; plasma exchange and adsorption hemodialysis; Doppler ultrasound of the heart and blood vessels; fine-needle aspiration cytology, etc. This has enabled them to resolve many emergency cases and save the lives of many critically ill patients.
Recently, doctors at the center successfully treated a pregnant woman with symptoms of preeclampsia overnight. The patient, Ms. TSM (26 years old), residing in Quang Duc commune, was admitted with abdominal pain and diagnosed with her third labor, carrying twins at 36 weeks and 1 day, one head-down and one breech presentation, with signs of preeclampsia.
The on-call doctor and surgical team held a consultation and decided on an emergency cesarean section, while also proactively preparing for blood transfusions during the surgery to prevent the worst possible outcomes for the patient. After 15 minutes, two baby boys were born. Post-surgery, the mother was conscious, the two babies were placed skin-to-skin, and all three were in good health.
Dr. To Thi Ngoc Bich, from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department (Hai Ha District Health Center), said: "Carrying twins already carries many additional risks for the mother, such as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome which can cause stillbirth in one fetus, conjoined twins... During labor, there are risks such as postpartum uterine atony leading to severe postpartum hemorrhage that is difficult to control immediately after birth... Therefore, we also recommend that, to ensure a smooth and safe pregnancy and childbirth, pregnant women should have regular prenatal check-ups to monitor, detect early, and receive effective treatment."

It is evident that medical centers throughout the province have mastered science and technology and advanced techniques, as evidenced by the surgeries and emergency procedures performed right at the district level, bringing satisfaction to the people. Medical staff are also consistently given attention in training and professional development to improve their expertise and medical ethics.
From 2023 to the present, 126 commune-level health stations in the province have undergone repairs and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure, with funding exceeding 260 billion VND. Thanks to the extensive network and increasingly highly qualified medical personnel, the health sector has proactively implemented effective programs for disease prevention and control, expanded immunization, management of non-communicable diseases, routine maternity care, and initial first aid.
During the 2024-2030 period, the health sector also proposed and implemented many projects for the development of specialized healthcare. Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital upgraded and expanded its Prenatal Diagnosis Unit into a Prenatal Screening and Diagnosis Center; the Reproductive Support Department into a Reproductive Support Center and Genetics Department; established a blood and umbilical cord tissue stem cell bank; and developed from basic to specialized levels of medical examination and treatment as part of the investment plan to expand Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to a capacity of 450 beds. The Provincial Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Hospital proposed the establishment of a Provincial Rehabilitation Center. The Provincial General Hospital and the Vietnam-Sweden Uong Bi Hospital continued to implement activities related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation…
