According to the company's report, the first five months of 2026 were a challenging period for production due to reduced working days caused by extended holidays. Meanwhile, mining conditions became increasingly complex. Small-scale production areas required frequent relocation, with eight relocations exceeding the planned schedule by two. Many mining areas exhibited geological discrepancies compared to initial projections, with coal seams containing multiple interbedded rock layers, sections of thin seams, or even no seams at all, and significant variations in dip angle and thickness.
In particular, the company's fully mechanized longwall mining system sometimes has a slope of up to 37 degrees. Increased mine pressure necessitates drilling and blasting to cut pillar rock in many areas to ensure mining conditions. Many longwall mining operations can only extract coal in one direction, from top to bottom, directly impacting productivity and output. Despite these difficulties, the company has strived to maintain stable production.

Mr. Luong Thanh Chung, Party Secretary and Director of the Company, stated: By the end of May, the Company's raw coal production reached over 632,000 tons, equivalent to 42.2% of the annual plan; more than 7,587 meters of new tunnels were excavated, reaching 42.2% of the plan; and coal consumption reached nearly 638,000 tons. Average labor productivity reached 38.78 tons/person/month, exceeding the plan by over 9%. Average employee income reached 22.8 million VND/person/month, an increase of nearly 9% compared to the annual plan.
One of the highlights of Mong Duong Coal Mine is its occupational safety work. The company has vigorously implemented resolutions and directives of TKV and its units on occupational safety and hygiene, organizing 6 thematic inspections with 126 on-site inspections of production facilities. As a result, in the first 5 months of the year, there were no serious labor accidents or incidents of type I and type II. The number of labor accidents decreased by 33.3% compared to the same period last year.
Along with ensuring safety, the company focuses on improving the efficiency of mine technology management. Currently, Mong Duong Coal Mine maintains 9 mining longwalls, including 1 fully mechanized longwall, 6 chain-supported longwalls, and 2 frame-supported longwalls. In 2026, the unit will invest in an additional 150 sets of hydraulic chain-linked supports to gradually replace outdated equipment systems, making them more suitable for actual mining conditions.
Many solutions to improve working conditions for employees have also been implemented simultaneously. The company has focused on upgrading mine tunnels, renovating the railway transport system, installing additional winches to assist in transporting people, and adding steps on steep mine tunnels. The gradual replacement of C14 scraper conveyors with belt conveyors and SGB scraper conveyors has also contributed to reducing equipment and improving operational efficiency.
The biggest challenge currently facing Mong Duong Coal Mine remains the pressure of production at deeper levels. Mining areas are increasingly subjected to greater geological pressure, resulting in significant unplanned costs. The work of preventing overburdensment, reinforcing mine tunnels, cutting tens of thousands of cubic meters of rock, and reinforcing the roof of the working face alone has generated substantial additional production costs. However, according to the company's assessment, excluding the objective impact of changes in the production area mobilization structure, business operations remain profitable in the first few months of the year.

Alongside production, Mong Duong Coal Company continues to pay special attention to its workers. “Since the beginning of the year, more than 3,000 company employees have received regular health check-ups; hundreds of workers have been given time off for rest and recuperation. The routes transporting workers from Binh Lieu, Dam Ha, Tien Yen, and Ba Che continue to be expanded, with many routes converted to sleeper buses to improve service quality and retain employees,” said Mr. Vu Tien Quang, Chairman of the Company's Trade Union.
In response to the requirement to complete the 2026 plan with a target of producing 1.5 million tons of raw coal, Mong Duong Coal Company is focusing on implementing many synchronized solutions. These include prioritizing production safety, accelerating tunnel excavation, improving ventilation and transportation capacity, and increasing the mechanization of personnel transport within the mine to shorten travel time and improve labor productivity. In addition, the company continues to tighten cost management, optimize production mobilization schedules, enhance material recovery and reuse, save energy, and promote digital transformation in production management.

With the tradition of being a Heroic Labor Unit, and the spirit of solidarity and determination of the miners to overcome difficulties, Mong Duong Coal Mine is determined to achieve its production and business targets for 2026, making a positive contribution to ensuring energy supply for the national economy .
