Sharing joys and sorrows

The small house of Mr. Pham Thanh Hai (born in 1970) and Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Binh (born in 1977) in Hamlet 1, My Yen Commune, does not contain many valuable possessions. However, it is always filled with laughter and the strong bond among its members.
In 2003, they got married with almost nothing but love and a strong will to succeed. Hai worked as a construction worker, and Binh worked as a factory worker, carefully saving every penny of their wages to provide for their family.
The early years of their lives were a struggle. Income was unstable, and living expenses were constantly rising, but they always encouraged each other to persevere. For them, the most important thing wasn't material wealth, but their children's future. However, Mr. Hai's health deteriorated after years of hard labor. No longer strong enough to continue his construction work, he was forced to stay home. The economic burden fell on his wife. Ms. Binh decided to step back and become a housewife to have time to care for her husband and children, taking on extra work picking bird's nests at home and selling lottery tickets to earn additional income.

Despite the difficulties, the family never lost faith. Love and support helped them overcome each challenging stage.
"Now that my husband's health is failing, it's only natural that I shoulder the responsibilities as husband and wife. Seeing our children grow up, well-behaved, and considerate of their parents, I feel that all the hardships are worthwhile. For me, a simple, happy family is one where all members know how to love, support, and move forward together," Ms. Binh said emotionally.

Those silent sacrifices have borne "sweet fruit." Their eldest daughter is preparing to graduate with a degree in anesthesiology and resuscitation nursing from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Their youngest son is about to enter 12th grade with many ambitions ahead.
In addition to building a happy family, Ms. Binh is also an enthusiastic health and population collaborator, an active member of the local Women's Union, and actively participates in community activities. Having achieved the title of Exemplary Cultural Family for three consecutive years, this year, Mr. Hai and Ms. Binh's family is one of 21 exemplary households honored by the My Yen Commune People's Committee on Vietnamese Family Day.
Sharing

In Thanh An hamlet, Chau Thanh commune, the story of Mr. Ly Van Tri (born in 1981) and Ms. Vo Hong The (born in 1986) is also a beautiful example of companionship in family life.
Mr. Tri is the Head of Thanh An Hamlet, and Ms. The is the Vice-Chairwoman of the Women's Association in the hamlet. Their family was recently recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as one of 109 exemplary cultural families for the period 2001-2026.
Doing social work at the grassroots level requires a lot of time and dedication. Therefore, mutual understanding and support are crucial factors in helping them successfully complete their tasks; actively participating in local movements, contributing many initiatives to the Women's Union activities and solidarity movements in the residential area. "When I'm busy with work, my wife takes care of the housework. When she's involved in the Women's Union activities, I take care of the children and take them to and from school. We always try to share the burden so that neither of us has to bear it alone," Mr. Tri shared.

Besides their local work, the couple's family mainly earns a living from farming, cultivating cassava (tapioca) intercropped with rice on 2 hectares of land. In addition, they raise cattle and trade in baled straw and processed cow manure.
Sensitive to the digital transformation trend, the couple boldly launched their products on social media platforms like Facebook and Zalo to promote and sell them. The product introduction videos, created by the family themselves, helped expand their market reach.
The couple has a granddaughter who will be a fourth-year student majoring in Resource and Environmental Management at the Faculty of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City next year. She actively supports her parents in filming videos, taking photos, and promoting their products. Following in her parents' footsteps, she also regularly participates in youth union activities at school and in her local community.
In the family, all tasks are divided fairly. Adults set a good example, and children take responsibility. This sharing of responsibilities has created a warm and happy home for Mr. Tri and Ms. The.
The foundation of sustainable development

According to a report by the Party Committee of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, after 5 years of implementing Directive No. 06 of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership over family building in the new situation, the awareness of all levels, sectors, and the people about the role of the family has undergone many positive changes.
Currently, the province has over 695,000 families recognized as "Culturally Exemplary Families," reaching a rate of nearly 95%. Family-related work has been implemented synchronously from the provincial level to the grassroots, linked with the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Exemplary Life" movement, contributing to building a healthy cultural environment and preserving fine traditional values.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tay Ninh province, said that in recent years, the province has focused on strengthening the team working on family affairs from the provincial to the grassroots level; organizing many training courses to enhance knowledge on family, gender equality, and prevention and control of domestic violence for thousands of officials and collaborators. Many effective models such as sustainable family development clubs, trusted addresses in the community, and models for preventing and controlling domestic violence continue to be maintained and expanded.
In addition, awareness campaigns are conducted through various diverse forms such as competitions, family days, media coverage in newspapers and social networks, and programs on life skills and family etiquette. These efforts contribute to raising awareness, building a cultured lifestyle, and strengthening family bonds.
"In the coming period, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to advise on the effective implementation of the Vietnamese Family Development Strategy until 2030, promote the dissemination and replication of good models and exemplary families, and at the same time improve the quality of work in preventing and combating domestic violence, and educating on ethics and lifestyle within families," Mr. Thanh emphasized.
Looking at families like Hai and Binh's, or Tri and The's, we can see that happiness doesn't come from material abundance, but is nurtured by love, loyalty, and responsibility. These families are spreading positive values every day, contributing to building a humane and developed society.
