It was at this moment when people’s lives were turned upside down that the soldiers’ hurried footsteps arrived. They came to the people not only as a duty, but as “an order from the heart”.
The floodwaters have just receded, leaving behind patchy walls and thick layers of mud covering inter-village roads, schools and medical stations. Hoa Thinh commune - one of the areas most severely damaged by the flood - is immersed in a gloomy atmosphere.

Upon receiving the order, more than 200 officers and soldiers of Division 315, along with many specialized vehicles, traveled a long distance and moved to the flood center. Without waiting for the rain to subside, each team immediately spread out to the hot spots. The green shirts of the soldiers blended into the mud, hurriedly cleaning up schools and headquarters so that people's lives could soon return to normal.
Corporal Mang Binh (a soldier of Company 3, Battalion 1) wiped his sweat from his hands, still covered in mud, and shared: “Seeing the people working hard makes me feel sorry for them. We encourage each other to work tirelessly, just hoping that the people will soon have a stable place to eat and live.”

During the support process, the soldiers not only used their strength but also their dedication. While cleaning up, the soldiers discovered Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (My Phu village) had fallen, his body pale, unable to walk. Immediately, the unit arranged specialized vehicles to take Mr. Dong to the upper level for timely emergency care.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Thanh Thai, Political Commissar of Division 315, affirmed: “The Division identifies the task of helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters as a political responsibility and a command from the heart. We thoroughly understand the motto: as long as the flood has not receded, the soldiers have not returned; as long as any household is in difficulty, the officers and soldiers of the Division will continue to be present, working together to support.”
Along with environmental sanitation work, the work of caring for and protecting people's health after floods is equally difficult.

In Xuan Phu village (Tuy An Dong commune), while the mud had not yet dried, ambulances from Military Hospital 13 (Military Region 5) were already present. With the spirit of "wherever the people are in need, there are soldiers", Task Force No. 2 quickly approached the flood-prone area to examine, provide medicine and share difficulties with the people.
At the clinic, top priority is given to the elderly, children and policy families. After floods, many diseases easily arise such as skin fungus, athlete’s foot, digestive and respiratory diseases, etc. The doctors do not mind the mud, gently washing each wound and carefully caring for each ulcerated foot of the elderly.

The bags of medicine were handed out, along with thoughtful instructions on how to prevent the epidemic, which warmed the hearts of the people in the flooded areas. Before that, Military Hospital 13 urgently established 3 mobile working groups with 8 doctors and nurses to support Hoa Thinh commune.
Not only Military Hospital 13, the entire health system and local authorities have joined in with the highest determination. Dak Lak province has transferred and distributed 1,170 medical kits; activated 3 mobile anti-epidemic teams with 4 people/team and 12 staff to accompany the police and military forces to the withdrawal points to spray and disinfect. All plans, from human resources to vehicles (3 ambulances, 12 medical staff ready to transport patients) have also been carefully prepared by the locality so that no one is left behind.

The saying "The flood has not receded, the troops have not returned" has been repeated over and over again in recent days, not as an empty slogan, but as a strong commitment of Uncle Ho's soldiers that as long as there are difficulties, there will be troops.
