Farmers take proactive measures to prevent fires.

Recently, the Farmers' Association of Tan Khanh ward, Tan An city, Long An province, has implemented many practical activities to raise awareness and skills in fire prevention and fighting among its members and local people.

The Farmers' Association of Tan Khanh Ward, Tan An City, in coordination with the Ward Police, organized a campaign to disseminate knowledge and skills on fire prevention and firefighting to its members and residents.

In 2024, the Farmers' Association of the ward selected Nhon Cau neighborhood as the pilot area for implementing the Fire Prevention and Control Team model. The neighborhood has 432 households and is home to many companies, rice milling facilities , rice warehouses, and worker dormitories, posing a potential risk of fire and explosion. The Association chose alleys 50 and 80 (Nguyen Van Cuong Street) for the pilot project, attracting the participation of 32 households, including 22 Farmers' Association members.

Here, the Association installed two public fire hydrants serving 38 households. Simultaneously, the Association advised the Ward Party Committee to expand the two fire hydrants in Nhon Cau and Nhon Hau neighborhoods, serving 62 households, with a total cost of over 7 million VND. In addition, the Association encouraged 42 households to equip themselves with fire extinguishers at home , contributing to fire and explosion prevention in the residential area.

To raise community awareness, the Association, in coordination with the ward police, organized propaganda and dissemination of fire prevention and control knowledge and skills to members and residents. The content of the propaganda mainly focused on how to identify fire and explosion risks, preventive measures, and how to handle situations when incidents occur. Ms. Tran Thi Lan (Nhon Cau neighborhood, Tan Khanh ward) shared: "After participating in the propaganda sessions, I understand more clearly the importance of having a fire extinguisher, so I have one at home."

In addition, the Association coordinated with the People's Committee of the ward to organize training on fire prevention and rescue operations with professional support from the police force, attracting 32 participants.

Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tan Khanh Ward, Nguyen Minh Ky, said: "In the coming time, the Association will continue to closely coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to promote propaganda and replicate effective fire prevention and control models in many other neighborhoods."
