People's Artist Xuan Quan has passed away.

After a courageous five-year battle with nasopharyngeal cancer, People's Artist Xuan Quan passed away at 4:05 PM on March 29th at his home, at the age of 64.

People's Artist Xuan Quan, whose real name is Tran Van Quan, was born on February 23, 1961, in Ho Chi Minh City. From a young age, he showed a talent for singing, so at the age of 11, his mother enrolled him in his father's traditional opera profession.

As he grew older, he studied at the School of Performing Arts 2 (now the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Film). After graduating, he actively pursued his profession and joined the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Opera Theatre, working professionally until his retirement.

Having pursued the art of traditional Vietnamese opera since a very young age, People's Artist Xuan Quan has made every effort to preserve and promote his family's tradition, with three generations involved in this art form.

In the arts, he had many outstanding roles that left a lasting impression on audiences. These roles won gold medals at professional traditional theater festivals and competitions: the role of Nguyen Trai in the play "The Le Chi Vien Case ," the role of Trinh An in the play " Executing Trinh An," the role of Du Hong in the play "Luu Kim Dinh Kills the Four Gates"... these outstanding roles contributed to establishing the reputation of People's Artist Xuan Quan .

Since 2000, in addition to performing on stage, People's Artist Xuan Quan and other artists have been dedicated to teaching and passing on knowledge, skills, and performance experience to many generations of young artists and actors at the theater.

Having retired several years ago, except when his health doesn't permit it, whenever possible, People's Artist Xuan Quan returns to the theater to contribute his strength and talent to building a team of young professionals for the art house he has been dedicated his entire life to.

The funeral of People's Artist Xuan Quan was held at his home in Tan Hung Thuan ward, District 12. The coffin was placed in the house at 5:00 AM on March 30th. The funeral procession took place at 2:00 PM on April 1st, after which the remains were cremated at the Binh Hung Hoa Crematorium.
