Lewandowski is Barca's top scorer this season with 8 goals. |
Robert Lewandowski has once again affirmed that he is not thinking about retiring. Despite being 37 years old, the Polish striker believes he is capable of playing at the highest level for at least two more seasons.
According to Fichajes , Lewandowski has surprisingly offered Barcelona a one-year contract extension, with an option to extend for another year based on performance. Notably, the striker born in 1988 is willing to reduce his salary from over 20 million euros to around 10 million euros per year.
For Hansi Flick, Lewandowski remains irreplaceable. His experience, ability to control the attacking tempo, and effectiveness in La Liga make him an ideal anchor for Barcelona's rejuvenating squad. However, the former Bayern star's future hinges on financial matters.
Even though Lewandowski has accepted a nearly 50% pay cut, Barca still has to consider parting ways with him to free up salary space for their 2026 summer transfer plans, where the Camp Nou club is ambitious to recruit a young, high-quality striker.
While Barca were considering their options, Lewandowski's agent began receiving offers from MLS clubs, Saudi Arabian giants, and several Italian teams. However, the striker himself preferred to stay at Barcelona, provided the Catalan club showed a determination to keep him.
