Mr. Dinh Van Anham (in K3 village, Vinh Son commune, Vinh Thanh district, Binh Dinh province) said that peach blossoms began to appear on Vinh Son hills around 2016.

At that time, Mr. Anham and many households in Vinh Son were chosen to be pioneers in piloting planting on 1 hectare of temperate flowers, such as: Dalat peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, Northern peach blossoms, hydrangeas, wild sunflowers...

In 2019, stemming from a relationship with Mr. Kato Hirosuke, Chairman of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association, Binh Dinh province imported 200 cherry trees from Japan for pilot planting in Vinh Son.

After a successful trial, by the end of 2020, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province approved a project to plant Japanese cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms and purple phoenix flowers to form the "capital" of Vinh Son flowers.

The project will plant 1,000 Japanese cherry blossom seedlings, with varieties such as: Oshimasakura, Kanhizakura, Kawazusakura.

In addition, the project also incorporates planting of Da Lat cherry blossoms, Nhat Tan peach blossoms, and purple phoenix flowers. The Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association also pledged to support Binh Dinh with about 10,000 Japanese cherry blossom trees for replication at Vinh Son eco-zone.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dao - Chairman of Song Kon Forestry Company Limited, the unit assigned to undertake the project of planting cherry blossoms in Vinh Son, agricultural experts from Japan have come to Vinh Son to support. Through surveys, Japanese experts assessed that the soil and climate are very favorable for cloning Japanese cherry blossoms.

From here, Binh Dinh province began to experimentally propagate and plant Japanese cherry blossoms in Vinh Son.

"Currently, we have planted 2,000 cherry blossom trees of various types in Vinh Son, including 500 Japanese cherry blossom trees, 300 Northern cherry blossom trees, and 1,200 Dalat cherry blossom trees.

Mr. Dinh Khanh - Chairman of Vinh Son Commune People's Committee said that Vinh Son Commune currently has a population of about 3,700 people, mainly Ba Na people. People here are preserving many cultural identities, such as: weaving, gongs, embroidery and various types of musical instruments, dancing and singing.

"In recent years, thanks to the movement of growing peach blossoms and organic vegetables, many households in the village have started to open homestays for eco-tourism. Many cherry blossom gardens of households have developed very well, blooming beautifully...", Mr. Khanh said.

Mr. To Hieu Trung - Chairman of Vinh Thanh District People's Committee, proudly said that Vinh Son commune has long been a land rich in potential for eco-tourism and community tourism, but it has not yet been properly exploited.

Around the residential area, there are many relics such as: Ta Kon Citadel, Nguyen Hue orange garden, La Pin stream...

After celebrating the Lunar New Year 2025, this district will start organizing the cherry blossom festival in Vinh Son (February 8 and 9) to serve the people and tourists to enjoy the spring.
