For people from coastal areas like me, sea snails are not only a delicious and tempting dish, but also a source of cherished memories. When I was a little boy, boiled sea snails with ginger fish sauce were a "luxurious" treat that my parents only reserved for their children on the most special occasions.

Back then, jumping snails were abundant. A kilogram of jumping snails only contained about 30 snails. Each snail was plump and about the length of a finger. When boiled or steamed, the meat was pulled out, dipped in ginger fish sauce, and slowly chewed, savoring the unique sweetness – a truly memorable experience. After eating, people saved the shells, using them to coat their yards, preventing them from becoming muddy and slippery during rainy weather.

The reason why jumping snails have such delicious meat is because they have a characteristic that sets them apart from many other types of snails. Jumping snails live in warm seabed areas, and instead of crawling like other snails, they "jump around" to move. Because of this characteristic, the meat and muscle of jumping snails are very firm.
