On the evening of February 7th, the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics took place at the legendary San Siro stadium with a spectacular artistic program. However, the atmosphere became tense when shouts of protest against some participating delegations and high-ranking guests emerged.
The situation immediately became tense. Initially, a peaceful protest was organized to oppose the environmental impact of the Olympics, with the participation of many families and students. However, after this group dispersed, a violent group appeared, throwing fireworks and smoke bombs near a competition venue, forcing police to intervene forcefully with tear gas and water cannons.
The extremist group reportedly attempted to approach the Santagiulia ice hockey arena. Clashes broke out before security forces brought the situation under control. At least six people were arrested for questioning.
At the same time, a group of masked individuals also detonated smoke bombs and flares on a bridge about 800 meters from the Olympic Village, where approximately 1,500 athletes reside. Police erected temporary metal barriers to secure the road leading to the athletes' village and reinforced their presence to ensure absolute safety.
