Participating in the men's football tournament at the 19th Asian Games (Hangzhou, China), the Vietnamese Olympic team is in Group B along with the Olympic teams of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Mongolia. The goal for coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team is to advance beyond the group stage.
According to the format of the men's football tournament at ASIAD 19, the top two teams in each group and the four best third-placed teams qualify for the Round of 16. Group C only has two teams, as the Olympic teams of Afghanistan and Syria withdrew, so the Olympic teams of Uzbekistan and Hong Kong (China) will compete against each other for first place in the group.
Vietnam's Olympic team is in Group B of ASIAD 19.
