Participating in the men's football event of the 19th Asian Games (Hangzhou, China), the Vietnamese Olympic team is in Group B with the Olympic teams of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Mongolia. The goal of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team is to pass the group stage.
According to the format of the 19th Asian Games men's football, the group winners, group runners-up and the four best third-placed teams will advance to the round of 16. Group C has only two teams, as Afghanistan and Syria withdrew, so Uzbekistan and Hong Kong (China) will compete for the top spot in the group.
