Stable supply

A survey conducted at several markets in Tuyen Quang City, such as Tam Co, Phan Thiet, and Nong Tien markets, as well as some markets in Ham Yen and Son Duong districts, shows that the supply of goods is ensured and proceeding normally. However, some households are concerned that after the storm, heavy rain may continue and floodwaters may not recede immediately, so they are stockpiling food items such as pork, fish, vegetables, fruits, instant noodles, and rice.

The supply of fresh vegetables remains sufficient in Tuyen Quang city.

Ms. Dang Thi Hien, a businesswoman at Nong Tien Ward Market (Tuyen Quang City), said: “Due to the storms and heavy rain, the supply of vegetables is scarce, so prices have increased by 10-20% compared to normal days. Specifically, water spinach, amaranth, and jute mallow are currently priced at 8,000 VND/bunch. Fruits like loofah are 20,000 VND/kg, green squash 25,000 VND/kg, and pumpkin 18,000 VND/kg, an increase of 4-6,000 VND/kg. It is expected that after this flooding, vegetable prices will double because of damage caused by the rain.”

Prices for pork and buffalo meat remain unchanged; pork costs 100-130 thousand VND/kg; buffalo meat costs 250-260 thousand VND/kg. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuoi, a beef seller at Tam Co Market (Tuyen Quang City), said: “Despite being affected by the storm, meat prices have not increased. In the coming days, my family will still ensure a sufficient food supply for consumers.”

At the first facility of the Sang Nhung Green Agricultural Products Center, sufficient supplies are still being ensured for the people during the stormy weather. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, the Center's manager, said: "The unit prepared a large quantity of goods before typhoon number 3, so currently, essential items such as rice, various types of meat, vegetables, and fruits... are being supplied to the people at prices that have not increased compared to normal. From the 8th until now, the unit has supplied the market with about 7 times more than usual. The unit is still providing a diverse range of products to consumers."

Mr. Phung Van Tap, from Group 6, Tan Quang Ward (Tuyen Quang City), who specializes in supplying various types of rice and animal feed, said that people have been buying a lot to stockpile in recent days. By noon on September 10th, very few people needed to stockpile more. Currently, his family still has over 40 tons of various types of rice, there is no shortage, and the price has not changed.

Gold Mart Son Duong supermarket in Son Duong town (Son Duong district) still has an abundant supply of goods for the people. Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam, manager of Gold Mart Son Duong supermarket, said: “We imported a large quantity of goods beforehand, so even after a week of rain and flooding, the supermarket still has enough supplies for the people at unchanged prices. The fruits and vegetables supplied daily are guaranteed to be fresh, delicious, and safe.”

Closely monitor the situation to ensure there are no shortages of essential goods.

At Vincom Supermarket on the morning of September 10th, the number of customers buying groceries, especially vegetables and instant noodles, increased by 15-20% compared to normal days, but prices remained unchanged. By 11 AM, most basic types of vegetables had run out. Speaking with supermarket staff, it was learned that on September 11th, the supermarket would continue to import more vegetables from several provinces and increase supplies from provinces and cities unaffected by the storms to ensure sufficient supply for customers.

The Provincial Business Association is supporting businesses and cooperatives from various provinces to participate in the Trade and Tourism Fair to rescue OCOP products and local specialties at Kim Long Hotel, Group 13, Tan Ha Ward (Tuyen Quang City).

Ms. Le Thanh Loan from Tan Quang ward (Tuyen Quang city) said: “Goods are quite abundant, and prices haven't changed, so we residents feel reassured and don't hoard much to avoid causing shortages. My family only buys enough for two days in case of heavy rain or flooding that prevents us from moving around.”

According to Mr. Loc Kim Lien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, to ensure food supply for people after the floods, the unit has requested supermarkets, shopping centers, distributors, retail stores, and market management boards in the area to proactively increase the supply and stockpile of goods, especially essential goods such as rice, salt, sugar, cooking oil, poultry eggs, drinking water, and processed foods.

Simultaneously, the Department is ready to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and local authorities at all levels to regulate the supply of goods to meet the needs of the people in the province when requested. The Department closely monitors sales within the distribution system to prevent dealers from hoarding goods, raising prices, or speculating on price increases that cause shortages; it has a plan to regulate the supply of goods to ensure sufficient distribution to each of its distribution agents and each residential area in the province; prioritizing localities and areas severely affected by storms and floods to prevent shortages of essential goods for people's daily needs.

The Department requests that districts direct and urge production and business units to proactively develop plans to ensure the supply of goods and appropriate supply plans; and to arrange personnel to be ready to support and transport essential goods to serve people in areas isolated by heavy rain and floods, and in remote areas, if necessary.

According to a quick assessment from the Department of Industry and Trade and a field survey by reporters from Tuyen Quang newspaper, the supply of goods, especially essential items for people's lives throughout the province, remains abundant and there is no risk of disruption.
