The Daily Mail reports that, based on his recent public appearances, Biden appears to have switched to more comfortable shoes to protect him from slipping.
Specifically, a report by Inside Edition discovered that the sneakers Biden wore last month were Hoka Transport shoes. These shoes are described as "commuter-friendly," with a design that makes it easy to tie the laces.
The black shoes, priced at $150, immediately drew attention, amid questions from observers about President Biden's choice of attire for public appearances.
A CBS News reporter later went to a Hoka store to try on the shoes and commented that they were "quite comfortable."

Given the above information, there is growing speculation that Biden's aides are taking precautions to prevent him from stumbling while traveling.
Andrew Bates, the White House Deputy Press Secretary, dismissed the reports, saying that Biden wore the shoes for exercise.
Biden's White House physician previously revealed that the president's limp was due to "severe spinal arthritis, mild post-fracture foot arthritis, and mild sensory peripheral neuropathy in his feet."

This isn't the first time President Biden has caused a stir with his footwear choices. Last summer, he wore sneakers when boarding Air Force One to a NATO meeting. He wasn't wearing socks at the time, drawing attention from photographers.
Biden also began using the short staircase to get to Air Force One, and a military aide was waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs to assist him.
