Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu as Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee

On the afternoon of May 27, at Can Tho City Party Committee, a conference to announce the decision of the Politburo on personnel work was held.

Attending were Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City.

The conference announced the decision of the Politburo on the mobilization and appointment of Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On behalf of the Politburo, Mrs. Truong Thi Mai handed over the decision to send Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu to take over the job, hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee and give congratulatory flowers in his new position.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu was born in 1976, from Binh Dinh province, holds a master's degree in education management, a bachelor's degree in Law, and a bachelor's degree in administration. In January 1, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu was elected an alternate member of the Party Central Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu was previously Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Secretary of District Party Committee of District 2; Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the City Party Committee and Secretary of the District Party Committee of District 5 from May 5 to January 2020.

From January 1, he was appointed Secretary of the Thu Duc City Party Committee for the 2021-2020 term. In June 2025, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
