Mr. Vu Tien Loc, former chairman of VCCI, has passed away.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , an official from the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) confirmed that Mr. Vu Tien Loc, chairman of VIAC, passed away suddenly this morning, August 5th.

According to this source, the family and the unit are currently discussing plans to prepare for the funeral.

According to an official from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mr. Loc passed away at 5:00 AM on August 5th in Hanoi .

Mr. Vu Tien Loc was born in 1960 in Thuy Phong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province. He holds a PhD in economics, a senior-level political theory certificate, and has taught at many universities both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Loc is currently the chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC). He was also a member of the National Assembly from the 11th to the 15th terms.

He was a member of the National Assembly's Economic and Budget Committee in the 11th term, and a member of the National Assembly's Economic Committee in the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.

Previously, Mr. Loc was an official at the Central Institute for Economic Management Research, and later transferred to work at the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (later the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry - VCCI).

He served as president of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry for 18 years, from 2003 to 2021.

In addition, Mr. Loc has held many positions such as member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and vice chairman of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Enhancement.

He is the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council on Administrative Procedure Reform of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Vietnam Public-Private Partnership Committee, Chairman of the Central Council of Vietnamese Business Associations, and Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum Alliance (VBF).

Mr. Vu Tien Loc is considered to have made significant contributions to the parliamentary arena as well as to the development of the Vietnamese business community.
