On June 14, French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership in high-tech fields, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and space technology, as the two countries seek to expand economic cooperation and innovation.
According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in France, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Bharat Innovates exhibition in Nice, southern France, President Macron emphasized India's increasingly important role in the field of innovation.
He argued that India is a "major innovation nation," building its own groundbreaking technological models and increasingly becoming an indispensable partner.
According to the French leader, the question now is no longer "whether India will innovate," but rather who will join India in that innovation process.
He urged European businesses and investors to view India as an emerging technology hub, capable of independently developing disruptive technologies and leading-edge innovative models.
For his part, Prime Minister Modi called on investors, research institutions, and entrepreneurs attending the event to come to India to collaborate in developing technology solutions geared towards the global market.
He stated that India is a suitable location for launching innovative projects that serve the needs of the world .
In addition, the two leaders also particularly emphasized the potential for cooperation in the fields of AI and space technology, sectors that both Paris and New Delhi have identified as strategic priorities.
According to Macron, India's achievements in these areas demonstrate that the South Asian nation has become one of the world's leading centers of innovation.
Bharat Innovates is the first exhibition of Indian technology companies to be held outside of India. The event takes place against the backdrop of France and India continuing to strengthen bilateral relations in many areas.
The two countries have agreed to designate 2026 as the "France-India Innovation Year" to promote collaborative projects in research, technology, and advanced industries.
Relations between Paris and New Delhi have been significantly strengthened recently. During President Macron's visit to India in February of this year, the two sides discussed numerous new cooperation initiatives.
Previously, New Delhi approved an order for approximately 100 Rafale fighter jets manufactured by the French aerospace company Dassault Aviation, further strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries.
Modi's presence in France is also linked to the G7 summit, scheduled to open on June 16 in Évian-les-Bains.
As one of the non-G7 leaders invited by France to participate in several discussion sessions, the Indian Prime Minister represents the growing role of emerging economies in global economic and technological issues.
