The family of Mr. Le Dinh Thanh in Tu Vu commune currently raises livestock in a closed-loop system on a scale of 40 cows, 150 pigs, 200 porcupines, over 20,000 broiler chickens, and approximately 500 bee colonies. In addition to livestock farming, his family also grows fruit trees and raises aquatic products. For a long time, his family has applied biosafety standards to their care process, such as administering all necessary vaccines, proactively disinfecting the farming environment, increasing the use of organic feed, and using biological products to treat livestock waste.

The integrated livestock farm of Mr. Le Dinh Thanh's family in Tu Vu commune is increasing its use of organic animal feed according to VietGAP standards to meet market demand.

Mr. Thanh said: "Currently, consumers are increasingly favoring organic food and naturally raised livestock, limiting the use of industrial feed. Recognizing this trend, my family has researched and learned about livestock farming according to VietGAP standards. Thanks to this, we have been able to reduce disease outbreaks in our livestock, and we have signed contracts with several businesses in Hanoi . Through this, sales are smooth and prices are higher than conventional products."

Currently, the province has over 5,300 livestock farms, including over 100 large-scale farms, 800 medium-scale farms, and more than 4,000 small-scale farms. To date, the province has 46 enterprises investing in livestock farming, with pig herds accounting for approximately 30% of the province's total herd and chicken herds accounting for 20% of the province's total herd.

Production organization in the province has undergone many innovations and positive changes; collective economy , cooperatives, and farms continue to develop. To date, the province has 51 cooperatives and cooperative groups; 29 enterprises and business households participating in the formation of 80 safe agricultural, forestry, and aquatic food production and supply chains. Currently, the province has 58 livestock facilities that have been granted certificates of animal disease safety and are maintaining stable operations.

VietGAP in livestock farming (VietGAHP) is a system of principles and technical procedures guiding organizations and individuals to apply throughout the entire production process. The requirements focus on ensuring food safety, controlling diseases, protecting the environment, caring for the health of producers and consumers, and ensuring product traceability. Adherence to VietGAP procedures helps to streamline livestock farming, minimize risks, and enhance product value.

Livestock farming practices that adhere to biosafety standards and meet market demands are increasingly being adopted throughout the province.

Ms. Le Thi Ha, Deputy Head of the Department of Livestock, Veterinary and Fisheries, stated: From a market perspective, VietGAP-certified livestock products contribute to protecting consumers from the risk of substandard food, while simultaneously enhancing the reputation of production facilities and distribution systems. Controlling waste and using veterinary drugs in accordance with regulations also helps reduce negative impacts on the environment. Transparent production processes facilitate the formation of linkages between livestock farmers, specialized agencies, and consuming businesses.

It can be affirmed that livestock farming according to VietGAP standards is an inevitable trend to meet the requirements of the modern market. With the active support of the agricultural sector, the development and certification of VietGAP is gradually expanding. This is an important foundation for Phu Tho to continue developing safe livestock farming, increasing added value, and aiming for sustainable development in the future.
