Located on the Nha Trang – Buon Ma Thuot tourist route, Krong Pac district is a melting pot of diverse regional cultures and blessed with abundant natural resources. These are identified as crucial potentials and advantages for Krong Pac district to develop the "non-polluting industry" (tourism) into a key economic sector by 2030.

It is no coincidence that over 100 years ago, the French chose the Krông Pắc area (from Km18 to Km47 on National Highway 26) to establish coffee and tea plantations during the second phase of colonial exploitation in Indochina. This vast area boasts flat terrain, fertile soil, a mild climate, and a dense and evenly distributed network of rivers and streams. Based on these crucial foundations, over the past 40 years, local authorities and the Party committee have gradually developed key crops, leading to rapid and significant improvements in the lives of the people.

From ecological and cultural advantages

With a long history of coffee cultivation, the district currently boasts two national-level historical sites: the CADA Plantation and the CADA Shrine (Ea Yông commune). In addition, the district has a provincial-level scenic spot, Dray Dăng Waterfall (Ea Knuếc commune), along with many advantages for tourism development such as: Ea Nhái Lake (Hòa Đông commune), Tân An Lake (Phước An town), Krông Búk Hạ Lake (Krông Búk commune), Trúc Lâm Từ Giác Zen Monastery (Ea Yông commune)... This is also a place where the cultures of 35 ethnic groups converge, with many cultural activities being preserved and promoted, such as: gong performances of the Êđê, Vân Kiều, and Xê Đăng people; then singing and đàn tính playing of the Tày and Nùng people; xòe dance and sạp dance of the Thái people; Bắc Ninh Quan Họ folk singing, and Quảng Nam Bài Chòi singing…

From the first Krong Pac Durian Festival in 2022 to the activities in response to the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023, Krong Pac district is striving to gather and spread the beauty of its culture, history, nature, and people, building and bringing its tourism brand closer to visitors from near and far.

The district's investment call list includes many projects related to tourism and service development. Among them, the Moonlight Land eco-tourism and film project in Hoa Dong commune has already attracted investor interest. The Dray Dang Waterfall tourist area, the resort and eco-tourism complex along Krong Buk Ha lake, and the Krong Pac District Commercial Center are also being actively promoted and businesses are being invited to invest.

Tran Quoc Vinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Krong Pac District Party Committee

Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet (a tourist from Kon Tum province), visiting Krong Pac for the first time during the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023, was truly impressed by the rich and long-standing agricultural heritage of Krong Pac. The advantages of ecological agriculture, along with the development of coffee and fruit products, will be key attractions for tourists to visit Krong Pac. Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Duy Tham (from Ea Kar district) was impressed by the cultural festivals, especially the wrestling festival in Vu Bon commune held annually during the Lantern Festival. According to him, preserving and promoting cultural values not only enhances the spiritual life of the people but also contributes to promoting the image of the friendly, gentle, and hospitable people of Krong Pac.

Focus on attracting investment.

According to Tran Quoc Vinh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Krong Pac District Party Committee, during the period 2015-2020, the number of tourists visiting Krong Pac increased by an average of over 2% per year, and total revenue from tourism increased by an average of over 5% per year. The district currently has 47 accommodation establishments, including one hotel with a 1-star certification. The transportation infrastructure to historical sites and tourist destinations has been upgraded to ensure convenient access. However, the growth rate and investment resources for tourism are still not commensurate with the potential. Therefore, the district is focusing on solutions to develop and propose mechanisms and policies to support tourism development, promote social mobilization in attracting resources and economic sectors to participate in investing in infrastructure and technology, diversify tourism products, and strengthen linkages in exploitation, promotion, and the formation of tourism tours and routes within and outside the province.

In its Resolution on Tourism Development for the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030, the Krong Pac District Party Committee clearly defines the goal of welcoming over 150,000 tourists by 2025, with more than 100,000 overnight stays. Total revenue from tourism is projected to exceed 30 billion VND by 2025 and 50 billion VND by 2030. Along with the development of the tourism and service sector, the number of workers in this sector will increase to 2,000 by 2025 and strive to reach over 3,500 by 2030. The district will also call for investment in developing infrastructure for 2-3 tourist areas and sites, ensuring their effective operation, and building two models of agricultural tourism combined with experiences at orchards and farms, linked to the consumption of OCP (One Commune One Product) products. These are important factors in promoting the development of Krông Pắc district's tourism industry towards greater professionalism, green practices, and high quality.
