On June 13, Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - National Defense Academy held a conference to exchange experiences and solutions in leading and directing the implementation of national defense and security work in Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference was chaired by: Comrade Phan Van Mai, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and Senior Lieutenant General Tran Viet Khoa, Member of the Party Central Committee, Director of the National Defense Academy.
Attending the conference were: Lieutenant General Dao Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of National Defense Academy; Lieutenant General Bui Huy Biet, Deputy Political Commissar of National Defense Academy; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Commander of the High Command of Ho Chi Minh City; Major General Tran Duc Tai, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department.

Mr. Phan Van Mai said at the conference, Ho Chi Minh City is a key area not only in terms of economy, but also important in defense and security of the whole country, in the region and internationally. Therefore, it is necessary to have the central investment focus on Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the efforts of Ho Chi Minh City in investing in itself. Investment is not only a source of capital but also the attention of leadership, monitoring and direction, inspection and supervision, and timely correction.

Ho Chi Minh City is the locomotive, the driving force of the country's development, but in recent years, the economy has declined, and its competitiveness compared to urban areas in the country, the region and the world has also been reduced. When the economy declines, national defense and security are challenged. Therefore, investment in economic development must be associated with ensuring national defense and security.

The conference also comprehensively assessed the leadership, direction and implementation of the construction and strengthening of national defense and security in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, the conference also clarified the advantages, limitations and lessons learned in implementation, set out directions, goals, tasks and solutions to strengthen the construction and consolidation of national defense and security in Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.
