Development in the island district

Agriculture - the economic pillar of the island district continues to grow in favorable conditions, rice and sticky rice prices are relatively high, productivity is guaranteed, income and life of farmers are improved. Recorded from the winter-spring crop, rice and sticky rice production in the district reached a yield of 7.53 tons/ha (0.13 tons/ha higher than the same period). Farmers are excited when the harvest is good, the price is good; the area participating in signing contracts and consuming is 1,814ha.

In addition, the planting area of ​​other crops increased compared to the plan, mainly water spinach for seeds, white corn, high potatoes, vegetable soybeans... Of which, the vegetable soybean area in Phu Xuan commune is 230ha, 159.1ha has been planted and 100% of the joint area has been purchased. The agricultural sector has coordinated well with localities to manage irrigation, drainage and prevent natural disasters and epidemics, ensuring stable production.

The district's passion for agricultural economic development also focuses on the Project "Developing 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission specialized rice associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030", aiming to improve productivity and profits for farmers who are attached to rice and sticky rice. Implemented through each crop, the district leaders and the agricultural sector maintain field visits, exchanges, listens to farmers' opinions and thoughts to remove difficulties and obstacles...

At the same time, sectors and localities coordinated to promote the model, the benefits achieved, evidence from pioneering households to change, and pilot models to mobilize the remaining farmers to be interested in and participate in the model. Typically, in the autumn-winter crop, Hiep Xuong commune had 150 participants, 10 households participating in the project were awarded. In the winter-spring crop, the whole Phu Tan district implemented 14 models in 12 communes and towns, with an area of ​​178 hectares. Of which, the provincial budget supported the implementation of 3 models, with an area of ​​45 hectares; the district budget supported the implementation of 11 models, with an area of ​​133 hectares.

The District People's Committee assessed that since the beginning of the year, budget revenue has achieved good results; the management and implementation of construction investment have continued to be proactive; the work of establishing, adjusting and updating plans has been carried out promptly. At the same time, social security continues to be concerned and implemented promptly, ensuring the right subjects and the right regime; the work of taking care of people's health has been strengthened. Strictly implement regulations on anti-corruption, thrift and anti-waste; national defense and security have been maintained... The Standing Committee of the District People's Committee regularly inspects key projects, the progress of disbursement of public investment capital; the situation of units working in the public security sector after the rearrangement; disease prevention and control work in schools; natural disaster prevention and control to protect production and people's lives... In 2025, there will be 66 projects in the district, with a total public investment capital allocated of more than 392 billion VND. Of which, the central budget capital is more than 134 billion VND (1 project); The capital of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction is nearly 32.9 billion VND (35 projects); the rest are projects using provincial and district budget capital.

Improve work efficiency, actively serve the people

In developing the rate of people participating in health insurance, the leaders of the District People's Committee have directed and urged localities to have specific solutions to remove difficulties that have existed in the past. As a result, the whole district has 156,582 participants, reaching 82.92% of the population; to achieve health insurance coverage of 95.08% according to the target for 2025, it is necessary to develop an additional 22,972 people.

In particular, the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area has been vigorously implemented. The district has 207 households, of which group 1 (households of people with revolutionary contributions) needs support for 42 households, the rest are group 2 (poor and near-poor households). There are 6 localities that have completed the task, including Phu My town and the communes of Phu Lam, Phu An, Phu Tho, Tan Hoa, Binh Thanh Dong. The district strives to complete 100% of the planned houses by June 2025.

Party committees and authorities at all levels of Phu Tan district focus on leadership and direction to continue to effectively implement agricultural, livestock and aquaculture production plans. In addition to emulation projects, each sector and locality is carrying out activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1), associated with urban beautification, creating environmental landscapes for village roads and alleys. Propagating, mobilizing, creating consensus among cadres, party members and people for the Party's new policies, especially the merger of commune-level and provincial-level administrative units, and not organizing district-level governments...
