The project is managed by the Long An Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, with a total investment of over 4,797.7 billion VND, including over 4,000 billion VND in ODA loans from South Korea. The expected implementation period is 2025 - 2030.
These three bridges play a strategic role in completing the province's transportation infrastructure, forming a continuous connection route from Ho Chi Minh City through Long An to Tien Giang . Through this, the project will significantly contribute to strengthening connectivity between the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City and international gateways, reducing pressure on National Highways 1, N2, and 50; while ensuring safe and efficient transportation of goods and passengers, contributing to reducing traffic congestion, accidents, and environmental pollution.
Specifically, the Can Giuoc Bridge is approximately 568m long, with a 90m main span in the form of a steel arch, and a bridge width of 6 lanes. The approach roads to the bridge are approximately 1.482km long, with a design speed of 80km/h.
The Vam Co Dong Bridge is approximately 1,356m long, uses a cable-stayed main span structure (90m + 150m), has a design load of HL93, and is 6 lanes wide.
The Vam Co Tay Bridge is approximately 1,412m long, using an Extradosed main span structure (80m + 130m + 80m), with a design load of HL93 and a width of 6 lanes.
The Long An Provincial People's Committee further stated that the land clearance project for the bridges and access roads has been approved according to Decision No. 13092/QD-UBND, dated December 16, 2024.
Upon completion, the project will contribute to promoting the development of key economic sectors of the province such as agriculture, fisheries, industry, services, and tourism; while also improving transportation capacity, attracting investment, serving national defense and security requirements, and gradually improving the quality of life for people in the area.
