Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga receives cash at home each month, donated by the Kien Tuong Sharing Charity Group.
Similar to Mrs. Nga's situation is the story of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh (81 years old), who was born blind. Currently, the elderly couple lives in a small house in Ward 5, Kien Tuong Commune. Since 2022, every month, Mrs. Anh has received 25kg of rice and 300,000 VND from the group. The gift is not large, but it is a "support" that helps the couple live peacefully day by day.
Mrs. Anh confided, "I'm old and frail, and I can't see, so receiving rice and a little money each month makes me so happy. Thanks to the kindness of these ladies, my husband and I are less worried."
What makes the Kien Tuong Sharing Group special is not the amount of money donated, but the enduring spirit of sharing. Each month, members contribute a few tens to a few hundred thousand dong, accumulating a fund of 5-10 million dong.
The money was distributed to seriously ill patients, elderly people living alone, and children with congenital disabilities. Instead of following trends or formalities, the group chose a slow but steady approach, ensuring that those receiving support would not experience interruptions or feel like a burden to anyone.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu, the group leader, said: "The most important thing is consistency, because the sick, the elderly, and the disabled children all depend on us every month. We always review the list, visit their homes to understand their actual circumstances before providing support."
Nguyen Thi My Dung, a member of the group, shared: "Many people told me that just having someone knock on their door and ask how they are doing warms their hearts. During some gift-giving events, we stayed with them longer than planned, just to listen to them and ease their worries."

The Kien Tuong Sharing Volunteer Group distributed rice to support vulnerable people in Kien Tuong ward.
According to Bui Thi Kim Ngan, Chairwoman of the Tuyen Thanh Commune Red Cross Society: “The most valuable aspect of the group is its transparency and ability to support the right people. In the context of many households falling back into poverty due to illness, such voluntary cooperation helps alleviate pressure on the locality and spreads a spirit of compassion.”
Through small steps, the group contributes to expanding the local social security network – where the difficulties of the people are most evident and where the most practical action can be taken.
