Meanwhile, Ninh Binh , Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City are the three localities with the highest average math scores in the country.

According to the announcement, Hanoi has overtaken Ho Chi Minh City in terms of average English scores and 10 scores in this year’s high school graduation exam. Previously, Ho Chi Minh City led the country in average English scores for 8 consecutive years.
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27 with about 1.1 million candidates. Candidates following the new generaleducation program, in addition to two compulsory exams of math and literature, will choose two subjects they have studied in the program. Nearly 353,000 candidates chose English. Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the largest number of candidates choosing English as an optional exam in the country.
The two subjects of math and English in the 2025 high school graduation exam have received special attention from the public, because after the exam day, many candidates, teachers and experts said that the exam was the "most difficult in history", especially the English exam.
