Students at Long Thanh My Primary School, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, during their lunch break today, November 6th.

This afternoon, a reporter from Thanh Nien Newspaper was present at Long Thanh My Primary School, Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, during the students' lunch break. After a week of temporarily suspending the school lunch program while the school and parents searched for a new food supplier, on the afternoon of November 6th, the students of this school were all happy to be able to enjoy their school lunches with their friends.

Each meal, priced at 28,000 VND, includes white rice, braised pork with eggs, minced meat and cabbage soup, stir-fried vegetables, and a banana for dessert. Parents representing all students in the school were present at lunchtime today, observing the process of transporting the meals, distributing them to the students, inspecting the food, and collecting food samples. Afterwards, the parent representatives and the principal ate the same meals as the students to share their impressions and evaluations.

The students rated the rice and food as delicious, and said they were full.

Mr. Le Duc Trung, deputy head of the parent-teacher association at Long Thanh My Primary School in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, who tried the school lunch today, said that during the time the school had to temporarily suspend lunch services to find a new food supplier, parents had to work harder to arrange their schedules and pick up and drop off their children. Many parents had to take several days off work to ensure their children arrived on time for school.

"Today, students are having lunch at school again. The parent representatives sent three people to check on the children's meals and how the food is delivered. We found the food to be still hot, and the children praised it as delicious and to their liking. Beforehand, parents and the school had carefully selected a meal supplier, visiting their facilities to see how they import, process, and transport the food to the school for the children… Therefore, we are reassured about the school lunch program for our children," added Mr. Duc Trung.

Speaking to a reporter from Thanh Nien Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuoc, Principal of Long Thanh My Primary School, said that the school has over 1,100 students, of which more than 600 are enrolled in the school's lunch program. To quickly find a new meal provider for the school, ensuring students can focus on their studies and parents can work with peace of mind, Ms. Phuoc said the school has collaborated with parents to search, select, and review profiles from many lunch providers.

Parents feel more secure when they participate in choosing meal providers, inspecting, and tasting the school lunch meals provided to their children.

In addition to reviewing the company's legal documents, parents and the school also visit the catering company in person to observe their food procurement process, preparation, and processing methods, whether the kitchen adheres to a one-way flow system, and how the school lunch is transported to the school in a way that ensures food safety and hygiene, keeping the food hot and of good quality. Only then do they decide on a supplier.

"The school now has a food distribution room. We ensure that all food delivered to the school is placed in the distribution room, following proper procedures and steps. Today, I went around asking the children about their feedback on the meals. They praised the food and said it was delicious, and the parents were satisfied. We also sent a video clip of the process of preparing the school lunch that the children ate today to all parents so that everyone can be reassured," said Ms. Thanh Phuoc.

Ms. Thanh Phuoc also stated that in the coming time, the school will not be complacent but will continue to inspect and supervise the facilities providing school lunch meals. The school will maintain an inspection and supervision committee with representatives from the school and parents to conduct regular and surprise inspections, ensuring that school lunch meals for students are always nutritious and safe.
