According to Phu Tho newspaper, recognizing digital transformation as a crucial driving force for socio-economic development, Phu Tho has focused on directing the synchronized implementation across all three pillars: digital government, digital economy, and digital society. Thanks to this investment, the province's digital infrastructure is currently operating stably.
To date, broadband fiber optic infrastructure has covered 100% of communes and wards; approximately 960,000 fixed broadband internet subscribers, with about 86% of households using fiber optic internet. The mobile network has also developed strongly, with 4G coverage reaching 98% of the area. Notably, the number of newly developed 5G base stations has reached 868, a six-fold increase compared to before July 1, 2025, covering 100% of central urban areas and industrial zones, creating momentum for the development of digital services and high technology.
Furthermore, national and ministerial databases have been connected and synchronously shared with the provincial database, helping to improve the efficiency of state management. By 2025, the rate of online applications received and processed throughout the province will reach 86.6%; the rate of applications with electronic results will reach 86.97%; and the rate of exploitation and reuse of digitized data will reach 92.5%. The proportion of the digital economy in the province's GRDP is estimated at 22%, placing it among the highest in the country.
Digital transformation efforts have yielded concrete results at the grassroots level. For example, in Phuc Yen ward, by 2025, the rate of digitized documents and administrative procedure resolution reached over 99%, while the online payment rate reached 100%. The Public Administrative Service Center there has upgraded its infrastructure, and its staff regularly receive training in digital skills. Models such as the Community Digital Technology Team and the "Digital Literacy Program" are being implemented to popularize digital skills among citizens.
In the healthcare sector, the development of smart healthcare is achieving encouraging results. Currently, 100% of hospitals and medical centers in the region have implemented electronic medical records. Healthcare facilities have uniformly adopted software for management, testing, storage and transmission of images, connecting electronic prescriptions with the national prescription management system, and implementing registration for medical examinations and treatment using citizen identification cards as well as cashless payments.
Goals and solutions for 2026
Entering 2026, Phu Tho province has set ambitious goals. The province strives for 100% of eligible administrative procedures to be provided as full-process online public services, with a minimum of 90% of online applications submitted, and 100% of administrative service centers at all levels applying artificial intelligence (AI) to support procedure processing. Simultaneously, the province aims for a minimum of 23% of GRDP to be contributed by the digital economy and a minimum of 65% 5G coverage.
To realize these goals, the province continues to implement a comprehensive set of solutions to enhance leadership and management capacity in digital transformation. The province will continue to link digital transformation with administrative reform, while strengthening communication to improve digital skills for officials and citizens. Phu Tho also advocates for promoting innovation, developing a digital ecosystem, and strengthening cooperation with domestic and international businesses and research organizations to implement advanced technological solutions.
