The illegal website xoilac has unexpectedly ceased operation.

Websites like xoilac, vebo, and thapcam have been on the blacklist for copyright infringement in Vietnam for many years. Despite being blocked by domestic internet providers, these sites often quickly re-enter the blacklist by updating and changing to different URLs to continue operating.

In this way, the system of websites that infringe on copyright and advertise illegal gambling continues to operate secretly, violating the law and affecting domestic pay-TV providers.

On February 2nd, the entire website was "frozen" without notice. Prior to that, this copyright-infringing broadcasting platform was operating 24/7, showing and commenting on many sports from various leagues at all times. The social media pages of the pirated website and its anonymous commentators also have not posted any new content since that time.

Pirated websites are no longer showing content, even with pre-set schedules.

Currently, links to the xoilac system's websites are still accessible from Vietnam. However, all matches in the provided schedule are unavailable. Since the evening of February 2nd, many important programs that usually feature commentators are only being broadcast via the television station's own channels.

Telegram accounts, which provide links to automatically stream illegal football matches and update results or match videos, have also shown no new activity since the early morning of February 2nd.

These copyright-infringing platforms have been operating in Vietnam for many years. Previously, the Ministry of Information and Communications had blacklisted many of these domains to prohibit advertising. Authorities also requested the tracing of the content source and the blocking of website access by internet service providers.

Previously, the notorious website specializing in piracy, phimmoi.net, was also blocked in Vietnam. In August 2021, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency announced that it was investigating a case of copyright and related rights infringement, following a decision to initiate criminal proceedings related to the Phimmoi website in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the investigation, police determined that since 2014, Nguyen Tuan Tu (from Lam Dong province) had planned to build and develop a website for streaming free movies online.

From there, Tú hired two highly skilled technicians to program, manage, and operate the Phimmoi website to copy, exploit, use, screen, and disseminate cinematic works to the public without the permission of the copyright holder, and to conduct advertising business for products and services in order to gain illicit profits.
