The incident stemmed from a post on the Threads platform by vlogger The Nomad on May 30th.

In the comments section, a fan left a complimentary comment, but also mentioned YouTuber Khoai Lang Thang with an implied comparison: "I watch your videos all the time! I like your vibe and your way of experiencing things more than Khoai Lang Thang. There's no standard for comparison, I just prefer your approach! Wishing you good health and many more videos!"

Responding to this comment, The Nomad expressed that he doesn't want to be compared to anyone: "Thank you, I'm just someone who travels around the world , creating a channel to share my story and earn money to cover my travel expenses. I don't want to compare myself to or compete with other content creators. I don't want to just travel to create content or get too involved in content creation and forget my starting point: 'I'm just someone who travels around the world'."

Following that, this fan continued to express their admiration for The Nomad, even saying he was "far better." The Nomad also "liked" this comment.

This quickly drew disapproval from others, who argued that although the fan account claimed not to be making comparisons, it was constantly expressing the opposite, implying a intention to belittle Khoai Lang Thang.

Tensions escalated when one account claimed that The Nomad deliberately retained comments attacking Khoai Lang Thang, deleting/hiding counter-arguments and comments defending him.

Notably, The Nomad discovered that Khoai Lang Thang "liked" one of the comments from this provocative account, which read: "This is this kid's comment. It's not hidden, is it?". However, Khoai Lang Thang later unliked it.

By the afternoon of June 3rd, The Nomad posted his latest statement regarding the incident, expressing his wish not to be dragged into similar controversies, along with some screenshots of messages and comments. Notably, in the screenshot of a message exchange between The Nomad and an acquaintance, which he shared, The Nomad agreed with the speculation that the account inciting the unrest and Khoai Lang Thang were the same person.

He also stated that there was no reason to delete/hide the comments because he hadn't even read the debate between the accounts or knew who they were.

The male vlogger also expressed that he always considers things rationally and logically rather than emotionally, and that he creates content to earn extra income, not to compete with anyone.

Meanwhile, Khoai Lang Thang also spoke up with a comment under The Nomad's post. He confirmed that he liked the comment mentioned by The Nomad because at the time he only saw comments attacking him and making comparisons to create controversy. Only when he checked the "replies" section did he discover that many other comments were hidden.

Khoai Lang Thang also suggested that the screenshots, analyses, and speculations posted by The Nomad could have drawn both of them into "drama." He clarified that the post could be found simply by searching his name online, and there was no need to go to The Nomad's personal page to "scrutinize" it as the vlogger speculated.

Later, the fan account of The Nomad, whose comment was initially deemed "war-provoking," also apologized to both vloggers, stating that they did not intend to attack or belittle anyone.

Currently, the incident continues to attract much debate on Threads because Khoai Lang Thang and Kẻ Du Mục are both popular travel vloggers with large followings.
