Innovation must become more substantive.
In Phu Tho province, education and training have achieved many impressive results. The scale of schools and classes has been reviewed and rationally arranged to meet the increasing learning needs. After the merger, Phu Tho ranks 3rd out of 34 provinces and cities in terms of the number of schools, students, and teachers, with 1,957 educational institutions and approximately 1 million students. The rate of school building modernization is over 90%; the percentage of schools meeting national standards is over 83%. The quality of mass and advanced education continues to be maintained and improved.
Adhering closely to the resolutions and plans of the Central Government and the province on the development of education and training, the Phu Tho Education Department has proactively concretized them with appropriate plans and roadmaps. In particular, the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program has been identified as a central and continuous task. Instead of applying it mechanically, the department has focused on preparation, from staffing and facilities to teaching methods.
In many schools across the province, the innovation of teaching methods has brought about positive changes. Three schools – Luong Son High School in Luong Son commune, Ha Hoa High School in Ha Hoa commune, and Huong Dao Secondary School in Tam Duong commune – have recently received internationally standardized STEM education practice rooms.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, Principal of Huong Dao Secondary School, happily stated: "The STEM room is a new driving force for both teachers and students in our journey of educational innovation. Here, students can design, build, program, and experiment with their own hands, transforming textbook knowledge into practical products, nurturing their passion for science and their desire for creativity."
Sharing the joy with Huong Dao Secondary School, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Principal of Ha Hoa High School, shared: "When the educational practice room comes into use and connects to the network of STEM rooms in the province and nationwide, it will overcome many limitations of traditional education, innovating the approach of teachers and students towards experience, exploration, and creativity. Students will have direct access to modern science and technology fields, arousing their passion, spirit of exploration, and proactive research."
Alongside the innovation of teaching content and methods, Phu Tho province has focused on investing in school infrastructure in a comprehensive and progressively modern manner. Particularly in rural, mountainous, and disadvantaged areas, prioritizing investment in education has significantly improved teaching and learning conditions. The movement to build schools meeting national standards has been intensified, not only improving the quality of education but also gradually narrowing the gap between different regions within the province.
In the past academic year alone, the entire education sector mobilized over 130 billion VND from the state budget to build new and renovate classrooms, subject-specific rooms, auxiliary facilities, and purchase teaching equipment. In particular, the trend of investing in integrated facilities such as open libraries, sports fields, STEM rooms, etc., is gradually being expanded by the province. As a result, the percentage of solid classrooms throughout the province has reached 96.6%, including: 94.8% for preschools, 95.9% for primary schools, 98.5% for lower secondary schools, and 98.8% for upper secondary schools.
Digital transformation creates new momentum for primary education.
Digital transformation in education has been identified by Phu Tho province as one of its breakthroughs. Educational institutions in the province have gradually applied information technology in management, administration, and teaching. Electronic gradebooks, digital student records, and school management software have been widely implemented, helping to reduce the workload of paperwork for teachers while improving management efficiency.
To date, 100% of schools in the province have internet connectivity; many schools are equipped with standard computer classrooms, interactive whiteboards, and electronic libraries; many schools have invested in simulation classrooms and STEM labs; and teachers and students have achieved many high results in STEM, Robotics, and science and technology research competitions. Socialization efforts have been effectively implemented, with many telecommunications and technology companies partnering with the education sector in developing digital infrastructure and solutions.

At Tan Phu Secondary School in Tan Son commune, digital transformation is being implemented synchronously across three areas: management, teaching, and connecting families and the school. In management, the school uses school management software, electronic records, electronic gradebooks, and digital signatures; and manages finances, documents, and operations online.
Mr. Tran Manh Dung, Principal of Tan Phu Secondary School, shared: digital transformation has significantly reduced administrative procedures, saved time and costs, and enhanced transparency in management. The application of technology in teaching contributes to increased visual learning, creating interest for students; and trains them in self-learning and digital skills – essential competencies in the digital age.
At Cuu Long Primary and Secondary School in Luong Son commune, the movement to apply information technology and digital transformation in teaching and learning is also being implemented to improve learning effectiveness.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, a teacher at the school, said: "After applying information technology to create electronic lesson plans, we noticed that students were more interested and enthusiastic in receiving knowledge more easily. Depending on the subject, the teaching staff will create lesson plans that are appropriate to the content and approach, so that each lesson becomes engaging and attracts the attention of the students."
In reality, educational reforms in Phu Tho have been reaching the grassroots level and yielding practical results. When the right policies are implemented appropriately, with the coordinated efforts of all levels and sectors, and the dedication of the teaching staff, education truly becomes the foundation for sustainable development.
In the coming period, Phu Tho's education sector will continue to promote digital transformation in a comprehensive, practical, and effective manner. The focus will be on implementing many breakthrough solutions, concentrating on the following tasks: Building a smart education ecosystem; synchronizing the sector's database, applying electronic gradebooks, digital student records, online enrollment, cashless payments, electronic record management, and interconnecting data across the entire sector. Innovating teaching methods; implementing smart classroom models, blended online learning, shared digital learning resource repositories, and applying AI and IoT in teaching and management. Developing digital human resources through training in information technology skills and cybersecurity; building a core team to implement digital transformation at educational institutions.
