A shield protecting the island commune.
Tien Hai is an island commune comprising 18 islands of varying sizes, with its territorial waters bordering Cambodia. In recent times, political security, order, and social safety have been generally ensured. However, there were still 3 criminal cases involving 3 individuals stealing property; 35 incidents involving 70 individuals violating public order; and a total of over 105 million VND in administrative fines.
Recognizing that maintaining security and order is a central objective according to the Party Committee's resolution for the 2020-2025 term, the Tien Hai Commune Police have concretized this through action plans tailored to the actual situation. From the beginning of the term, the unit has held meetings to disseminate policies and tasks, adhering to the motto "serving the people."
With a spirit of unity and responsibility, the commune police have implemented a comprehensive set of professional measures to reduce crime and maintain stability in the area. As a result, the commune has not experienced any complex incidents, achieving the goals set forth in the Party Congress resolution. Lieutenant Colonel Le Quoc Thang, Head of Tien Hai Commune Police, stated: “The commune has unique characteristics and lacks adequate infrastructure, but the officers and soldiers always clearly understand their responsibilities with the spirit of ‘serving the people.’ Maintaining peace in this remote island area also contributes to safeguarding the sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands.”
The commune police force regularly coordinates with the Tien Hai Border Guard Post to organize patrols and control security and order. At the same time, they disseminate legal information to fishermen, focusing on preventing and combating illegal fishing, trafficking of prohibited goods, and drugs. Mr. Duong Van Vi, residing in Hon Giang hamlet, shared: “The commune police regularly disseminate legal information to the people, helping each person better understand their responsibility to protect their homeland and maintain the security of the remote island.”
The People's Pillar
More than just a "shield" maintaining order, the Tien Hai Commune Police also accompanies the people in their daily lives. Implementing administrative reforms, the police force assists in obtaining citizen identification cards and registering residency quickly and conveniently. Mr. Huynh Cong Minh, residing in Group 2, Hon Tre Hamlet, said: "The commune police are close and dedicated to the people. Seeing the police patrolling at night, we can sleep soundly. The island commune is peaceful, so the people can work and live in peace."
Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Hai Commune, Chung Loi Hung, assessed: "The commune police not only successfully fulfill their duties in ensuring security and order but also closely coordinate with the government in caring for the people's lives." The silent contribution of the police force helps the island commune maintain stability and create a favorable environment for socio -economic development. When security is ensured, sectors such as tourism and services are increasingly thriving, and the lives of the people are improving.
For the 2025-2030 term, the Tien Hai Commune Police Department is determined to continue strengthening the prevention, detection, and suppression of activities that infringe upon national security, especially drug-related crimes. The police force will proactively and exemplarily lead the way in implementing the Party's major policies, particularly the effective implementation of the four key resolutions of the Politburo.
The commune police have advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune to issue a resolution and plan to build a drug- and crime-free commune for the period 2025-2030. Tien Hai strives to become one of the 20% of communes, wards, and special zones in An Giang province that are drug-free.
In Tien Hai island commune, each police officer is not only a guardian of peace but also a companion, a son of the remote island, always dedicated to serving the people. The spirit of "selfless devotion to the nation and service to the people" is illuminated on this border island, contributing to Tien Hai's peace and development, making it a shining example on the sacred frontier of the Fatherland.
