With a 4900mAh battery, how long can the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge last while gaming?

With its ultra-slim design and 3900mAh battery, will the Galaxy S25 Edge be able to handle extended, intense gaming sessions?

The Galaxy S25 Edge is attracting attention thanks to its impressively thin body, giving it a premium feel and lightweight design. However, what worries many is its 3900mAh battery – a modest figure compared to most smartphones with the same screen size, which typically range from 4800 to 5000mAh.

Samsung confidently claims that the software has been optimized to minimize the impact on battery life. But words are one thing, and the actual experience can be quite different. This is especially true for mobile gamers who frequently spend hours playing MOBA games like Arena of Valor or Wild Rift; continuous gameplay will be the most accurate test of this small battery.

To verify this, the Galaxy S25 Edge was subjected to a battery test using two popular games: Arena of Valor and League of Legends: Wild Rift. Settings were kept constant to ensure accuracy: graphics were pushed to the highest level, screen refresh rate set to 60Hz, screen brightness at 70%, and speaker volume at 70%. Gaming was conducted via Wi-Fi in a closed room, with 4G or 5G disabled. Game Mode was activated with the highest performance settings.

During gameplay, the Galaxy S25 Edge doesn't overheat. With Arena of Valor, the device maintains a stable temperature, only slightly warming the back after a few matches, but not causing discomfort. With Wild Rift, the temperature is slightly higher, noticeable after prolonged use, but still within acceptable limits for such a thin and light device.

In Arena of Valor, with each match lasting 15 to 20 minutes, battery consumption fluctuates around 4-5%. This is quite reasonable considering the high-end configuration and graphics settings.

However, Wild Rift, known for its more demanding graphics, detailed lighting effects, and numerous abilities, drains the battery faster. Each 20-minute match consumes about 7-8% of the battery, meaning that with a full charge, you can play about 8 matches before the low battery warning (20%) appears.

If you play games in ideal conditions, such as indoors in a cool environment, via Wi-Fi, and with the screen brightness not too high, the Galaxy S25 Edge can last for about 10 to 12 matches of Arena of Valor, or 8 to 10 matches of Wild Rift, equivalent to about 4 hours of continuous gaming. This is a decent number for a small battery like 3900mAh, but compared to other phones with 5000mAh batteries, it clearly can't compete.

However, if you habitually play outdoors, with maximum screen brightness or a 4G/5G connection, battery consumption can increase to approximately 10-12% for each 20-minute Arena of Valor/Wild Rift match. At this point, battery life will decrease significantly, only lasting for 6 to 8 matches before needing to be recharged.

Conversely, if you reduce the graphics quality, screen brightness, and speaker volume, the battery life will definitely be longer, possibly lasting up to 5 hours of continuous gaming before showing a low battery warning.

In short, the Galaxy S25 Edge isn't for hardcore gamers who play for extended periods on a single charge. However, if you only play a few casual games each day and prioritize a slim and stylish design, it's still a worthwhile option, provided you understand the battery limitations before purchasing.

Foreign gamers "torture" the Galaxy S25 Edge with PUBG Mobile.
