PlayStation will not attend Gamescom 2023

According to VGC , Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly planning to not attend the Gamescom 2023 gaming event.

In recent years, Japanese game companies have often chosen to introduce their games through their own online events, instead of holding conferences or physical events with many other companies in the industry. This is said to help the company reduce a significant amount of costs.

PlayStation will not be present at Gamescom 2023

Sony last appeared at Gamescom in 2019, which was also the last in-person Gamescom event before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. And now the company has told German publication GamesMarkt that it has no plans to exhibit at Gamescom this summer.

The Gamescom opening ceremony will return on August 22, with the main event taking place from August 23 to 27. As of mid-March, 10% more companies had registered for Gamescom 2023 than in 2022, according to organizers Koelnmesse and the German Games Industry Association.

In April, Nintendo was announced as the first major game publisher to attend Gamescom 2023. The Switch maker also attended Gamescom 2019.
