Pogba in trouble

Mathias, Paul Pogba's brother, recently shared an update on the former Manchester United midfielder's current condition on RMC Sport.

Pogba is not yet in his best physical condition.

According to Mathias, Pogba's readjustment to the intensity of top-level football cannot happen in a short period of time. He admitted that the initial expectations were somewhat too high compared to his brother's actual physical condition.

“He’s very disappointed, but it’s not just Pogba, my whole family feels the same way,” Mathias said. “I comforted Pogba by telling him he can’t be 100% fit immediately. Everyone wants Pogba to be back playing well, but that’s not the reality. His body can’t handle the current intensity of play.”

Pogba joined Monaco last summer after his doping ban was reduced, opening the door to a chance to restart his career in Ligue 1. However, reality has not unfolded as expected.

Since December 5th, 2025, Pogba has been unable to play due to a calf problem. The recurring injury has not only caused him to miss several important matches but also excluded him from Monaco's squad for the Champions League knockout rounds. This is seen as a major blow to the former Manchester United player's hopes of regaining his peak form.

Pogba's return date is still uncertain.

According to Mathias, the series of injuries is a sign that Pogba's body is not ready. "We are not robots," Mathias shared.

Not only physical fitness, but also psychological factors have become a major challenge for Pogba. After a lengthy legal battle to return to the pitch, continued injuries have put immense pressure on the French midfielder.

According to Mathias, Pogba remains resilient and is working hard to regain his best form, but disappointment is inevitable when expectations are constantly being disrupted.
