PSG are worried about Dembele's injury situation. |
Football London reports that despite concerns from the medical team, manager Luis Enrique is likely to start Dembele in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal, which takes place in the early hours of May 8th.
Dembele had to leave the field midway through the second half of the first leg match against Arsenal due to a hamstring problem. A statement from the French club's medical team indicated that Dembele's condition initially improved, but hamstring injuries are always extremely complex and difficult to recover from in just a few days.
Dembele was not included in the squad for PSG's 1-2 defeat to Strasbourg last weekend. Prior to that, coach Luis Enrique declined to comment on Dembele's potential participation in the match against Arsenal.
However, Dembele's normal training session on May 6th suggests he is highly likely to start against Arsenal. Coach Enrique is willing to take a risk because the match against the "Gunners" is crucial to PSG's success or failure this season.
Besides Dembele, Lee Kang-in also suffered a calf injury. The South Korean midfielder will almost certainly miss the Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal.
On May 4th, PSG suffered a 1-2 defeat away to Strasbourg in the 32nd round of Ligue 1. With the national championship already secured, coach Enrique made 10 changes to the lineup compared to the 1-0 victory against Arsenal in North London earlier in the week, only retaining Joao Neves in the starting XI.
