PSG worried about Dembele's injury situation |
Football London reported that despite concerns from the medical team, coach Luis Enrique is likely to let Dembele start in the match against Arsenal in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, taking place in the early morning of May 8.
Dembele was forced off in the second half of the first leg against Arsenal with a hamstring problem. A statement from the French club's medical team said Dembele was initially improving, but hamstring injuries are extremely complex and can take days to recover.
Dembele was not on the list of players registered for PSG's 1-2 loss to Strasbourg last weekend. Previously, coach Luis Enrique refused to comment on the possibility of Dembele playing against Arsenal.
However, Dembele's normal training on May 6th suggests that the player will likely start against Arsenal. Coach Enrique is willing to take the risk because the match against the Gunners is of great significance to PSG's success or failure this season.
In addition to Dembele, Lee Kang-in also suffered a calf injury. The Korean midfielder will most likely not be able to participate in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal.
On May 4, PSG suffered a 1-2 defeat at Strasbourg in round 32 of Ligue 1. With the national championship already in hand, coach Enrique made 10 changes to the squad compared to the 1-0 win over Arsenal in North London in the middle of the week, keeping only Joao Neves in the starting lineup.
