Thirty years later, my memories of the sun-drenched, windswept, arid land seemed to have faded as I landed at Cam Ranh airport and headed towards Ninh Thuan. Along both sides of the road were lush green vineyards, vibrant rice paddies, and white salt fields, dotted with rows of giant wind turbines silhouetted against the deep blue sky and mountains.
Wide roads lead to famous tourist destinations such as Nui Chua National Park, Hang Rai Cave, the ancient stone park, Vinh Hy Bay, or the Poklong Garai Cham Tower… Luxurious resorts and hotels, meeting international standards, adorn the long coastline with its calm, clear waters and sparkling white sand.
Walking around this upscale resort, it's hard to believe it's one of the driest regions in Vietnam, given the charming villas nestled peacefully amidst lush green forests. The skillful arrangement of the villas and accommodations, in a way that respects nature, has made this 5-star resort a favorite among visitors.
Following their relaxing getaways, golfers can showcase their spectacular swings on the newly opened, world-class 18-hole coastal golf course in Ninh Thuan. Playing golf, snorkeling, swimming, mountain climbing, trekking through the forest, exploring the white stone plateau, conquering the sheer cliffs along the coast, or being captivated by the lush green and red vineyards laden with fruit… these are experiences not to be missed when visiting the once pristine, sun-drenched land of Ninh Thuan.
Recently, Nui Chua National Park was recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve, opening up new opportunities in the tourism sector and contributing to attracting more potential investors.
It was exciting to spend a whole day running on forest trails, weaving through clumps of cacti taller than a person's head nestled among the cliffs in this semi-desert region.
The Hang Rai rock formations, nestled against the sea, the vast, colorful coral reefs hidden beneath the deep blue waters, and the magnificent natural rocky plateau... all contribute to Ninh Thuan's unique green experiences.
Although a set of criteria for sustainable and green tourism development has not yet been issued, Ninh Thuan's orientation towards 2030 is to develop traditional tourism while creating new types of tourism based on maximizing existing advantages, making Ninh Thuan an international-class destination for relaxation, experiences, and exploration.
Activities to preserve and maintain ancient cultures such as the beliefs and festivals of the Cham people, and the culture of the Raglai people, are carried out regularly, along with many events promoting the land and people of Ninh Thuan. Among them, the "Ninh Thuan - Land of Heritage" photo contest, co-organized by Heritage Magazine and Mekong One Company, has attracted hundreds of unique photographic works capturing the majestic natural beauty, cultural heritage, and distinctive local traditions of this land.
