Quang Hai was taken for an MRI scan to assess the extent of the damage to his right shoulder joint. The results showed that he needed more time to rest to ensure the recovery process.
Based on medical consultation, head coach Kim Sang Sik agreed with the doctor's instructions and reported to the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation to decide not to call up the midfielder of the Hanoi Police club in this training session, while encouraging the player to focus on treatment and recovery.
Notably, coach Kim Sang Sik did not call for additional replacement personnel, keeping the same list of 23 players - exactly the same number of registered players according to the regulations of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers. This demonstrates the initiative in calculating the force and confidence in the team's existing personnel options.
A shoulder injury has kept Quang Hai out of three consecutive international matches with Hanoi Police in the AFC Champions League Two and the 2025/26 Southeast Asian Club Championship. The midfielder born in 1997 was also unable to participate in the national team training session during FIFA Days in September.
According to the plan, on October 4, the Vietnamese team will officially gather in Ho Chi Minh City, starting the preparation phase for the two matches against Nepal. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will have 5 days to practice, before entering the first leg at 7:30 p.m. on October 9 at Go Dau Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City). The second leg will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
The organizers have announced plans to issue tickets for the two matches, with two denominations of VND200,000 and VND400,000. Tickets will be sold online exclusively on the OneU app (formerly VinID) in two phases: from September 29 to October 5 and from October 6 to October 7, or until sold out. In addition, fans can buy tickets directly at the ticket counters at Go Dau Stadium and Thong Nhat Stadium from October 4.
