The Chairman of the Vietnamese Language Association in Japan said the photo contest "Moments of children learning Vietnamese" was organized with the aim of encouraging children to learn and use Vietnamese through creative activities.
On the evening of October 5, in Tokyo, the Vietnamese Language Association in Japan held an award ceremony for the photo contest "Moments of children learning Vietnamese" in conjunction with the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival, a major event for Vietnamese teenagers and children in the Tokyo area, Japan.
This is one of the efforts of the Vietnamese Language Association in Japan to preserve the motivation to learn the mother tongue for children born and raised in Japan.
According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, the event was organized by the Vietnamese Language Association in Japan under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.
Attending the event were members of the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Language Association in Japan, representatives of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Kitagawa Toshifumi - Vice President of the Tokyo City Association of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, Ms. Yamasaki Masako - Principal of Kasai Public Elementary School No. 7 (Edogawa District, Tokyo), along with about 600 children and their families living in the Kansai region of Japan.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Dao Thi Huong, President of the Vietnamese Language Association in Japan and head of the contest's organizing committee, said that this photo contest was organized with the aim of encouraging children to learn and use Vietnamese through creative activities, thereby strengthening family connections, helping to unite the community and contributing to preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language among the generation of children born and raised in Japan.
The contest has been launched since the beginning of September and has so far received more than 63 best works from parents and relatives, capturing real images of their children's Vietnamese learning process.
On the evening of October 5, the Organizing Committee awarded collective prizes to the Class I Love Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Women's Union in Japan, as well as first, second, third and many consolation prizes for individuals, thereby creating more motivation for Vietnamese children in the Land of the Rising Sun to explore their mother tongue.
Sharing with VNA reporters in Tokyo, Mr. Kitagawa Toshifumi, Vice President of the Tokyo City Association of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, said he was very happy to attend this important event for Vietnamese children in Japan.
He expressed his hope that Vietnamese children living in Japan would learn their mother tongue as well as Japanese well so that they could later become a bridge between the two cultures of Japan and Vietnam.
After the award ceremony, the children joined the Mid-Autumn Festival in a warm and joyful atmosphere. The children not only got to enjoy the feast and watch the special cultural and artistic performances, but also participated in folk games./.
