DTO - In the first months of the year, the province's production, business, investment, construction, and import-export activities continued to achieve many important results. This serves as a foundation for the province's sectors and levels to accelerate in the following quarters, aiming for an economic growth target of 8% or more in 2025.

In the first three months of the year, the manufacturing industry grew by 10.5% compared to the same period in 2024.
In the first quarter of 2025, agricultural production proceeded as planned; the consumption of agricultural and aquatic products was favorable, maintaining a relatively high growth rate. The cost of rice production reached 3,699 VND/kg (an increase of 91 VND/kg compared to the same period in 2024), and the average profit was 20.6 million VND/ha (a decrease of 12.4 million VND/ha compared to the same period).
As of March 31, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee recognized 20 communes as achieving advanced new rural area standards in 2024 (bringing the cumulative total to 58 communes achieving advanced new rural area standards); and completed the dossiers for consideration and recognition of the first 6 communes in the province as model new rural areas. Recently, the Prime Minister decided to recognize Tam Nong and Tan Hong districts as achieving new rural area standards in 2024, bringing the total number of recognized units to 10 out of 12 districts and cities. Currently, the province continues to direct the completion of dossiers requesting recognition of Thanh Binh district as achieving new rural area standards in 2024 and Thap Muoi and Cao Lanh districts as achieving advanced new rural area standards in 2024.
The province currently has 710 enterprises operating in the industrial production sector. Among these, the number of enterprises in some of the province's key industrial production sectors includes: frozen pangasius fish production and export (28 enterprises, with a total designed capacity of over 700,000 tons/year); animal feed and seafood processing (29 enterprises, with a total designed capacity of nearly 6,900,000 tons/year); food processing (approximately 174 enterprises); garment manufacturing (41 enterprises, with a total designed capacity of over 60 million products/year); footwear and leather goods (3 enterprises, with a total designed capacity of approximately 38 million products/year); and 10 enterprises processing rice-based products (shrimp crackers, vermicelli, rice noodles, rice paper, and similar products) with a total designed capacity of approximately 50,000 tons/year. In the first three months of the year, the industrial production index is estimated to have increased by 8.1% compared to the same period last year.
In the first quarter, the province saw the establishment of 184 new businesses, reaching 27.63% of the plan (666 businesses) with a total registered capital of over 1,986 billion VND; 36 businesses were dissolved and 80 businesses resumed operations. The total number of businesses currently operating in the province is estimated at over 5,312.
Regarding attracting private investment projects, the province continues to implement large projects that have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee in principle and with approved investors, such as: Hoa Thanh Residential Area, An Lac 1 New Urban Area, Vinh Phuoc Urban Area, and Bon Mua Urban Area; reviewing and adjusting the implementation schedule for projects to allow investors sufficient time to carry out investment procedures (land, construction, environment, fire prevention and fighting), ensuring the conditions for construction and operation. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the province has received 22 applications, including 20 applications for investment projects and 2 applications for investment in the form of purchasing equity in companies from foreign investors.
Public investment projects are being implemented intensively, especially key transportation projects. Detailed capital allocation is being carried out expeditiously, and the disbursement of public investment capital continues to show positive progress. The total number of public investment projects under construction (as of March 18, 2025) is 622, of which 311 projects (50.2%) are in the investment preparation phase (not yet at the construction stage); 221 projects (35.5%) are under construction; 11 projects (1.8%) are temporarily suspended; and 78 projects (12.5%) have been completed. To date, 16 out of 23 key projects in the province have been completed and put into use, 6 projects are under construction, and 1 project (road infrastructure in the South Tien River area, Dong Thap province) has been proposed for investment.
The province's total public investment plan for 2025 is VND 8,045.818 billion. To date, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated 100% of the planned capital to agencies and units for implementation. According to reports from project owners, the disbursement results as of March 31, 2025, are VND 744.664 billion out of VND 8,045.818 billion, reaching 9.26%.
The province's import and export activities continued to maintain the growth momentum seen at the end of 2024. It is estimated that in the first three months of 2025, export turnover will increase by 9.46%, and import turnover will increase by 26.07% compared to the same period in 2024.
