On April 20th, in Hanoi, the National Political Publishing House organized a ceremony to introduce the book series "Vo Nguyen Giap - The People's General," edited by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House.
This is a meaningful and practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
General Vo Nguyen Giap – the brilliant General of the Vietnamese people, one of the greatest commanders of all time, a master strategist – is not only a monument in the hearts of every Vietnamese person, but his name has also left a deep mark on the hearts of international friends. The name Vo Nguyen Giap has become extremely familiar and close to the people and peace- loving people of countries all over the world.
Throughout his life, spanning over 80 years of revolutionary activity, General Vo Nguyen Giap exemplified the shining example of a courageous, creative, steadfast, and dedicated communist, making immense contributions and exceptionally outstanding achievements to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese nation.
The General's life and work were closely intertwined with the development of the Vietnamese revolution and the momentous, glorious, and sacrificial historical milestones of the Party and the nation. His name and legacy will live on forever with the country, in the hearts of the people, and in the history of mankind.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, stated that with deep respect, pride, and gratitude to those who made the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory possible, the National Political Publishing House is organizing a ceremony to introduce the book "Vo Nguyen Giap - The People's General," published in Vietnamese and bilingual in five languages including Vietnamese-English, Vietnamese-French, Vietnamese-Spanish, Vietnamese-Chinese, and Vietnamese-Arabic, aiming to contribute to meeting the needs of readers both domestically and internationally in learning about the life and career of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, the great victories of the Vietnamese revolution, to which General and Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap contributed, changed the course of the nation's history, strongly impacted world history, making him a renowned general of all time, leaving a brilliant mark in military history, enriching Vietnamese military art, forming Vietnamese military doctrine in the Ho Chi Minh era, and leaving profound value for the construction of a national defense system and the firm protection of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
With his outstanding talent and tireless dedication to the country, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Commander-in-Chief, made numerous great contributions and exceptionally outstanding achievements to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, contributing to the glorious victories of the Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era.
At the ceremony, delegates and readers listened to valuable information, lessons, and touching stories from Colonel Trinh Nguyen Huan, former secretary to General Vo Nguyen Giap – who spent nearly 40 years by the General's side – as well as from General Vo Nguyen Giap's family. Through this insightful information, the general public and readers had the opportunity to access and gain a deeper understanding of the life, career, and personality of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the outstanding disciple of President Ho Chi Minh and the elder brother of the Vietnam People's Army.
Speaking at the ceremony, Saleem Hammad, the Arabic translator of the book "Vo Nguyen Giap - The People's General," expressed his hope that a large number of Arabs would read and understand the life and immense achievements of General Vo Nguyen Giap for the Vietnamese people and for humanity. "We Palestinians greatly admire General Vo Nguyen Giap," he said.
