Review and tighten milk and food advertising on channels and programs

Faced with the complicated developments of the fake milk production and distribution case that has caused public outrage, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a document to relevant agencies, requesting the serious implementation of Official Dispatch No. 40/CD-TTg dated April 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister on handling this case.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information to preside over and coordinate with agencies and units of the Ministry of Health to handle violations in advertising activities of milk and food on radio, television, electronic information pages, social networks, online applications, digital platforms with internet connection according to assigned authority on the basis of violations identified by competent authorities; at the same time, inspect advertising activities of milk and food on licensed advertising channels and programs.

In addition, the Press Department is assigned to review and monitor advertising activities in the press, especially advertising for milk and food; propose solutions to handle violations within its authority. The Department is also responsible for directing press agencies to carefully check and verify advertising licenses and conditions before publishing, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Advertising Law.

The Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution is required to inspect the advertising of milk and food products on publications, ensuring that there is no exploitation of books, newspapers and magazines to disseminate false advertising content, causing confusion to consumers.

The Ministry also requested the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library to coordinate and direct localities to review, summarize and handle violations related to food advertising; at the same time, report the implementation results to the Ministry before May 15, 2025.

Inspectors of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are required to strengthen inspection, examination, detection and strict handling of violations of regulations on food advertising on mass media and digital platforms.
